metallic dust?

Hello all , i always find some "metallic dust " when i change myself (4000km) the oil between the 8000km maintenance.

I use mobil-1 and im not racing that much the oil is never older than 1 month or 4000km.The car have 35ooo miles now.
Its like 20-50 of little fine metal dust i find in the botom of the container .
Did you all noticed that too?i had Preludes whit up to 350 000 km and i never noticed that problem in the past.

My engine seem to be very fine, its tie when i race a freind, civic SIR he race for rreal whit his car and hes very light ,he have only the driver seat inside lol im 700 pound more than him anyways..evrything is fine whit my car exept my litttle preoblem
Any IDEA? thanks

I don't know Jacques, I do know that aluminum mills are always throwing off a small amount of material (knowing Honda I imagine it's at VERY minimun levels) when they're breaking in, but once I saw your 35,000 figure I started thinking that if it was my ride I'd want to take it to the dealership and get their blessing that it isn't eating itself.
Good luck.

I would be very concerned if it was my car.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I hope I'm not misunderstanding this. You're not rolling those 10 miles without oil right? You're saying you dump the old oil, then fill with new, drive 10 miles and dump it again? So, the metal shavings are from 10 miles of driving.

Anyway, I'd recommend a compression test to get you started. Also, might be worth seeing if the metal is aluminum or steel with a magnet since it would give you something to go on as far as source. (block vs internals).

Yea i flush and fill whit new oil at autumn then i roll like 10 miles store for the winter, and flush the oil before i start the engine at spring.

Its aluminum also
Thats ridiculous for the 10 mile ,, i mean it cant be engine or o rings wear for 10 miles?!!??
Is it possible that dust is comming from the AEM intake , today when i removed the air filter i found some metal dust ,similar to the one i find in the oil ,on my fingers when i passed a hand inside the aluminum tube.
What brand of oil u use ?

Well, most of the moving parts in the engine (pistons, rings, crank, bearings, connecting rods and so on) are steel. The block, heads and intake manifold are of course aluminum. If those shavings are past the airfilter in your CAI (and it sounds like they are) then they're getting sucked into the manifold. Sounds like you've found the problem at least. I think it goes without saying that you want to eliminate that problem ASAP.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic and I think it is way overkill since I baby my car. But, I change the oil only 1-2/year (I drive the S about 5,000 miles/year) so I rationalize it that way.
