A few questions from a soon to be 2005 s2k owner

I started looking through the posts and I don't recall seeing answers to these questions. I apologize in advance if I am making anyone repeat themselves. Having said that:
1. What is the preferred brand and octane rating of fuel (this is directly mostly at people living in the Southeast US)?
2. Not that I expect to do this often, but would putting in an 87 octane fuel cause damage to anything? I know that it will degrade performance.
3. What is the consensus on preferred brand/type of oil? I am a a Mobile1 junkie, changing my oil every 3k miles...
4. How does the paint hold up over time? Because I live in Florida, I am thinking of getting a cover. Is it worth it?

Thank you!

On the first three questions I'll let our more technical experts answer your questions, but on question #4 . . . that's a no-brainer (n' for all you guys that r' sittin' back sayin' to yourselves that that's just my area of expetise . . right back atcha)
I don't know how long you've lived in our sunny state of Florida, but have you, perhaps, noticed all those faded paint jobs on the older road-goin' iron? Whether you're plannin' on hangin' on to your S2 'till death do you part or whether you might, down the line, wanna sell it, you've gotta keep it in the shade as much as possible. Natural shade gathers the gold, a car cover is a distant second, but definitely better than the sunburned alternative. A cover. Yes.
Good luck.

I use Super every time.

I usually use Shell or Texaco, but all the major brands are about the same.

I don't think 1 tank of 87 will do any real damage, but I wouldn't run it on 87 for more then 100 miles. You never know.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Don't know how it is in the US but here in Belgium gasstations from Total have now a fueladditive in their gas, it was in the news.
It should save a bit fuel and would run the engine cleaner.
Dunno how much about that's true but i go to total now regulary and sometimes to shell, always 98 octane.

Thank you for the information -- very helpful. Any suggestions as to a particular brand of car cover? I know that Honda sells one specifically for the s2k, but I don't know how good it is.

Thank you again!

Yes they do, but it's an indoor one. My wife bought me mine for Christmas and I didn't get the car for four more weeks.

P.S. Go Noles!!! Just playing.
