Good price for a 01 S2000

Newbie here. Looking for a S2000 for a weekend/autocross/timetrial car. Not a daily driver. Found a 01 for sale with 60k miles for $16k. Is this a good price? Any problems with the 01's I should look out for?

First thing that springs to mind is the gearbox.
Has the gearbox been replaced under warranty? This seems to be the most popular of the larger warranty claims.
But if the box feels precise enough then you're probably ok.

Check the condition of the plastic rear window. (This was replaced with glass after 02) Could be expensive to replace.

One last point. The standard suspension geometry setup on the pre 02 models provoked less forgiving, more "unpredictable" handling. It can be changed to the post 02 setup but, if you're just after a track type car then this could actually be in your favour.

Don't know about the price. Not up with the US resale market. But if that was converted into pounds and for sale over here, I'd buy it and have two.

Kinda off topic here. I though the 02' was the first year to have a glass rear windshield?

That's pretty much the same deal I got as far as price. Check the Blue Book, partner. You saved at least 3 grand! Go for it!
