Debating getting an S2k, what are some Pros/Cons/owner refle

got a new job and have more $ to play with, so why not get something a little more expensive? the only couple of things i can come up with is a 97+ prelude and an s2k. well, i drove a lude today, and was not impressed at all. very nice car, but definitely not me. so i kinda have my sights set on an s2k.
i'm not a complete noob on the s2k scene, one of my close friends owned one for like 2 years and i have driven a couple. the main thing i am worried about is buying one, and not having the $ to fix stuff that breaks on it. i don't plan on racing it too much, maybe just a couple of road racing track days with my local club here. other than that, this car will be my daily whip. so what are the main problematic things that happen to them, if any, and what are some pros/cons of owning one? all good input is greatly appreciated

If going on a track day the first thing you are going to notice is the cost of tires and brake pads, and whole tank of fuel goes really quickly at the track.

Before purchasing the s2000 you may want to check out what the likely cost of insurance is going to be.

There are generally no real common problems that require repair that are not caused by driver error.

I've got this friend see? Well, let's jus' say he's not overly concerned with the ability of a vehicle to ever be used again after he drives it. A little abusive to machinery is this friend.
He's had his Stew for about a year n' a half now n' other than tires, pads n' I think a top (surprisingly, not related to his drivin') he's had nothin' to complain about.
I wouldn't be overly concerned with the car as a daily ride or worryin' about undue repair problems. You may wanna be concerned over things like keepin' your license, how to keep the local gentry from puttin' dents in your doors in parkin' lots n' friends n' neighbors bein' a little nervous about why you're smilin' so much.
Besides, arrivin' at a track day in a 'lude???? I don't think so.

Well lets just say this Pro's You can keep up with a Sti, Evo MR. also those damn Sr4 or whatever the Neon turbos I raced four wide I kept up with them even off the line I of course lost my S2k 2000 is stock but even off the line I was far off I was about a few inches off their bumpers but were talkin 300 horse cars here. I am very happy with my car and I believe that if you just know a few things like changing your oil and always washing your S you will enjoy it The rear wheel drive is just the best thing about the damn car especially rollin up to a bunch of chicks on East washington * a road where everyone races on* I get bitches lov'n my whip and actually gottin laid twice because of my car man. Chicks dig the whip I ofcourse Love hitt'n 9 but just be careful the ass end will come and bite you many times if you don't know what your getting your self into. But if you are familiar with a rear wheel drive car buy the fucker man you will not be kickin yourself in the ass for buying but if you buy the damn Lude you will be very pissed especially when I pass yer ass.

lol. im used to driving a 512 rwhp supra tt, a 324 rwhp m3, and a 376 fwhp civic. i don't think that a low 14/high 13 second s2k is going to be beyond my means to pilot. i just want the car to be a nice daily that isnt a handfull to drive, doesn't break, and gets decent gas mileage. yeah, i might do a few track days in it just to mess around, but my serious track days are gonna be in my fast cars. s2k's are quick, but are not "fast" by any means unless you spend thousands modding the shit out of them, and if you do that, you make a car with questionable reliability even more unreliable.

and not to insult you, but if your s2k is stock, and you kept up with an STi off of the line, then i hate to break it to you, but that guy you "raced" probably didnt know you were trying to race him. STi's are pretty quick cars out of the box. almost a full second quicker than an s2k is. and with the awd out of the hole, that thing will definitely out-launch an s2k, even with jesus christ behind the wheel, there would be no competition for that.

and if you are talking about pulling some wool in your s2k, you should try it in a supra sometime bitches go crazy for it.

Aaay! Guys! (see? I do have a "g" key. but at the end of a post I collect all the unused ones n' turn 'em in for 5 cents apiece)
I agree with mki that the Stew isn't really fast, with a disclaimer: only if your idea of fast is restricted to ability to launch. The things that you are puttin' the car down for are just the things that would make it into just another overweight, overpowered n' overpriced muscle car. If ya wanna Mustang, buy a Mustang. (Except that they aren't overpriced for whuchagett
You're talkin' about one aspect of the vehicles performance when the whole reason that it probably gained your attention is because of it's very efficient n' well-balanced way of dealin' with quick, lock-to-lock turns n' movin' on to the next set.
And as for impressin' the ladies . . are things so bad that you've gotta rely on your wheels? C'mon folks! Focus!

The guy in the Sti went to the Track an got 13.9 in the 1/4 mile track and yes the Sti would be a moron not to when it was a four wide Race. especially when he tossed 100 on it vs the MR and I was just lucky enough to have been able to be next to them. Supra's are not all that great if you ask me big turbo *free horse* not all that special. anyone can put one in their car and be *fast* but im talkin a car without one its pretty damn nice. and if I got a Supra i would be havn the bastard allwheel drive twin but it just wouldn't be that great I would beat everyone well most likly everyone

im speechless.

first off, the guy in the STi does not know how to drive if the best he can muster is a 13.9 in the 1/4.

and you say supras aren't all that great? show me another 3 liter motor that can RELIABLY make over 700rwhp all day an be daily driven for years on end. and yeah, its easy to make big power with them, hell, mine made over 500hp and i really didnt do a whole lot to it. it all comes down to good engineering. the s2k is the best at what it does in the all-motor world, and the supra is one of the best at what it does in the small displacement turbo world.

and a little fyi - supras are not all wheel drive.

I wanted to buy one but I don't feel like it because whom ever owned one most likly beat the living piss out of it and I dont feel like restore the engine If I could I'd buy a brand new 10 mile Supra an turn it to all wheel drive thats it.

wow. you are awesome!

i'd like for you to explain how "easy" it is to make a supra awd?!??!?! top secret has done the only one that i have ever seen that was actually awd - and they used a complete rb26dett drivetrain in it - which was anything but "easy" - and if you are gonna ditch the 2jzgte that comes in the car, then why even buy one? that is the reason you buy the car. the motors are virtually indestructible, even with a ton of miles. those guys have endless money and resources, and didnt even pull it off that well. but you can do it "easy", LMAO. but hey, thats what i can expect from a guy that tells me he murders Sti's and evo mr's in his stock s2k, lol.

and your grammar is quite deplorable. maybe this can help:
