I been wondering about this...

I've ready almost every thread here and love everyones input but I just got to wondering about the sparkies.

Can you use platinum spark plugs in this motor? I see em in the part stores but haven't seen any input on if they would do harm to a stock motor or not. And what about split fires? I never used em on any of my rides (and dare not considering I drive crappy p/u trucks). I just like to know for when I get my S2K.

there would be no reason why you couldn't use platinum plugs in your stock motor. But I wouldwatch out if you plan on upgrading your ignition system. i have a custom '99 eclipse with full msd ignition & I had to remove my denso iridium plugs because the spark would have been so hot it would've prety much just smoked my plugs.

Look in your owner's manual. In mine it states that platinum plugs are the norm for the S2000. That's what comes in them from the factory.

now some of you may argue this but I think exspensive plugs are the biggest waste of money in the world. In the car that I built the motor I have run 4 different types of plugs. I used stock they worked fine. I used ngk they worked fine I used denso they worked fine and lastly I used whatever cheap brand walmart sells in the orange package. I didnt notice a difference in any of them I never ran into any detonation problems caused by plugs I did however have a set of NGK and denso plugs fail on me and they were like 48 bucks a set.
Stock plugs

hmm my engine is making a funny noise could it be gasses leaking outa my exspensive ass ngk spark plug? why yes yes it is. It was at this point i said f it im going to walmart

Well s2, I agree that the expensive, unobtainium, celebrity plugs (Cruise runs a set'a this brand in 'in '07 Egomaniacal, Danny DeVito runs a set'a that brand in 'in '63 Beetle, Freak-o Jock-o runs one'a these . . well, maybe we'll skip that one) aren't worth what they cost.
But for flat-out, shuck-the-rubes unnecessary I've godda think that the prescription of nitrogen for tire use in an earth-going vehicle takes the gold.
Be well.

Our OEM plugs are platinum. That is why we do not have to change them for 105,000 miles.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
