Cold Weather Starts

Hi: I was wondering if one of you experts on the S2000 could tell me if there is anything that I can do to improve S2000 cold weather starting. My average winter low here is 20 degrees F. I live in Rio Rancho NM and moved here from California in April. Ths is my first winter. it starts, but it is noticably harder than in the warm weather.

Also, I have one of those "Vortex Valves" that I purchased, but it seems not to do anything for my gas mileage...is it a a worthless piece of junk or am I just not using it correctly?

Also, how do you reset the computer?

Thanks for your help

Rick

Im sure the weather is hard on you. I live in MN and as for starting, its pretty much just going to be harder. Im sure what you are seeing is the car in cranking a little slower and isnt starting quite as quick. Thats just what you are going to have to deal with when its cold. The battery is cold and wont crank as hard as it will warm.

Thanks for the advice...I will try it.

About the valve...Being an engineer, you would think that I would know better...so much for being realy dumb and stuipid...Maybe I can use it for a planter...

Thanks for the welcome. I have a 2004-S2000 And I really love that car!

You have eased my mind considerably...It always starts, just acts like something has it ticked-off when it is cold. In MN you have it much colder than me...we only get about 1/2 inch of snow here. The winter days are about 50 and the winter nights are about 20 or so.

Thanks again foryour response..I really appreciate it..

Welcome to the site.

Mine starts slower here as well in Idaho. I think it is due to the cold weather and the battery. Car batteries do not work as well in the cold, thus the whole sales pitch about cold cranking amps.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Mine does the same and and we rarely dip down into the 20's. Usually 30's at night in winter. My wife claims the garage helps, but I think that's an attempt to keep my projects to a minimum(LOL). She also said that holding the clutch down longer, even in neutral, seems to help.
