had the car for 3 days making a funny noise. HELP!

ok i just bought a cherry s2000 and i loved it in every sense of the expression. I recently noticed a noise and thought it might just be me(very paranoid when it comes to my car). anywayz so when im idling it will make a kind os hissing(onlyway to explain it, though its not a hissing) coming from the tranny. i will push the cluth in and it stops making the sound. it doesnt get louder as i drive its very quiet which is why i think it might just be me. any info would help thank you.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I had a cat crawl up under the fender of my truck one time. I bet it hissed some too as I drove off. Cat made it about 100 ft out of the drive way before letting go. It was a black cat at that but its luck ran out on that ride. I am no expert on these cars but one of the things that I might contribute is that we are sitting right next to everything with these cars. You are going to hear more and feel more with this car then the ole Buick (or toyota)you might be used too. I wouldn't be overly concerned but it pays to be paranoid with cars. I know too many people just the opposite who think an "idiot" light coming on couldn't possibly mean there is reason to stop. The car is still running isn't it? When in doubt check it out. The dealers are always helpful and always glad to see ya. It's how they pay the bills. If it worries you then its worth running by the dealers and asking. John H

Hi Com, 'godda go with Bub on this. When it's somethin' that bothers you (real or imagined) there's nothin' that makes the goblins go away like the blessin' of a good mech.
If you bought it from a reputable dealer, bring it back n' leddem check it out. If you bought it from a private party, well, from the sounds of it, sooner r' later you're gonna need a reputable mech that you can lean on in times of uncertainty. 'Might's well seek him/her out now. 'Save you the lookin' 'im up later.
N' no amount of assurance from strangers should make your goblins go away when, in your gut, you jus' feel that somethin' ain't right. Go find your mech to talk to face-to-face n' put your goblins at bay. The weight that's lifted from your shoulders makes the ride so much more enjoyable.
Best of luck with it Com. May all the roads ahead be twisty, free of traffic n' may your reaction times always be quicker than what the circumstances call for.
Be well.

thanks guys. i guess the fact that you can sit on the center console and straddle the trany makes this ride a little different. i went to a friend and he just said it was the clutch disk and that everything is just fine. i appreciate it though.
