How should release the ponies?
I knnow at the crank im putting out 240 but i wanted to get that at the wheels. I dont think exhaust and headers and all that will be as afective unless i upfgrade tranny first. I could be wrong. want some insight. its going to be used on the track so no supercharging.thanks

If you are not going with boost, the 240 WHP will be difficult and EXPENSIVE!! It will take the right combination of I/H/TP/E, AEM EMS, ITB would help instead if just an intake, possibly cams if you can find ones that actually work, some head work and possibly the bottom end work as well. Even with all of that, it will be tough to get 240 WHP.
Boost is easier and less expensive, but you said that wasn't an option.

a guy in my area pulled off 222 rwhp. he had aem v2 intake dc header no cat and i forget what kinda exhaust. With that setup he dynoed 210 he then through on a neo and had it tuned and got 222 hp. I thought that was amazing. I dunno why people expect such big hp gains out of a car that already had the record for most hp per liter in a na car

Without forced induction it is actually possible, but takin' the drive wheels from where they're presently located n' hookin' 'em directly to the rear of the crank is probably gonna involve alodda tin-knockin' n' will likely take away from the car's ability to be used as a means of transportation . . . well . . aimable transportation anyway.
'Provided the track is akin' to a large Wal-Mart parkin' lot it should be fun . . kind'a be like a demon tilt-a-whirl . . on steroids. Be well. Java

I'm confused why you think it won't be affective until you upgrade the tranny first. I can understand if you meant you might break the tranny. But otherwise I can't see how headers and intake would be less effective until you upgrade a tranny.
That aside, what is it about supercharging that has you concerned with respect to track days? It is not uncommon to see supercharged engines on tracks. Nitrous is a different story and is about useless on a road course. |

I agree with the trans thing. I just think he didnt know if the trans would handle an extra 40 horse?

i just dont want to compete with other cars in the supercharged range. i might have to tho. illl probably race a seasopn stock and then go supercharged after i have a little experience. you guys are right on abpout what you guys said. thanks alot. im not ecpecting insane power gains going n/a. i just want dependability.

I would say dependability is keeping it simple -- I/H/E and a tune. From what I have read about these cars, they aren't the biggest responders to mods.
