Cylinder head question

I am a fairly new owner of a 2006. I was looking under the hood the other day and noticed a depression in the cylinder head casting, aft of the #4 intake runner. A metal tube runs from this recess to the back corner of the head. I couldn't find any reference to it in the shop manual other than some coincidental drawings in illustrations of other items.

It seems as though there should be some sort of cover or plug as the metal line from the head opens into this recess. Perhaps it is an ambient air temp sensor of some sort? I'd like to find out before I go to a dealer for the answer.

TIA
