Unhappy bad smelling from my car..help here.

today i went all the way up to 9000RPM with my 2007 ..
i made an accident with my clutch when i starting the gas,
i didn't let the clutch all the way up and step on to the gas pedal and it all the way went to 9000RPM.
after that i smell like something burning out?smells really bad.
will these really damage my car??if it does what part will it get hurt and should i bring it to the shop??

Probably just a smell of the burning clutch. Don't think it'll do any damage. If it doesn't slip after that, you are fine.

I agree that the smell is the clutch. Don't make a habit of going there. Your car doesn't like that.

Red line is 8K on that model. The 07 in an AP2. AP1s have a 9K redline.

I've heard of a few AP1's that have gone 10K plus without problems. However, I'm not saying its good on your engine. You may get away with it once or twice but sooner or later it will cause damage. Some aren't so lucky, the first time they over rev, their engine fails.

yeah...

that's the smell of your clutch plate burning. it is bad for the clutch to do that, yes. but unless you're doing it every day, you don't need to replace anything. you're simply wearing down your clutch way faster than you would normally driving. if it still drives the way it did before you burnt the clutch a little, there's no need to take it to a shop. trust me, i'm a mechanic.

plus, guys... these cars have electronic ignition systems .... they have rev limiters. you can bounce it off the rev limiter all day long if you want and it's not gonna rev above the limiter. not good for the engine of course, but 'over-rev' refers to un rev limited cars where you can floor it and rev wayyyyy past the redline and throw rods and ****.

I'm wondering, why the rev limiter didn't cut you off at 8300 RPM's..?

acually the 07 redline is 8300 but when you hit it the full redline area lights up giving the appearence of a 9k redline

leo520- Is your car an American market car? If not, it most likely still uses the f20c, which indeed revs to 9000 as we all know. No offense, but your poor grammar made me think maybe you don't live in America.

Have your CDV removed (Clutch Delay Valve), I have a 2006 and had done the Same thing went thru 3 gears, didnt go anywhere. Got home and for about 2 or 3 days the car smelled nasty, around the rear tires, not rubber.

As other peeps mentioned its your clutch, and the CDV causes the clutch not to engage fully so you end up with a glazing.

Just a word of caution, if you have your CDV removed dont peel out too much you end up breaking your rear end sooner or later.

Cheers

are you sure? The rev limiter kicks in pretty hard around 8300. The clutch delay valve is a PITA. It should have never been installed (AH should have used the proper drivetrain components to start with). Remove it and don't dump the clutch.
