Header

Has anyone heard of or have a Meagen header. It is selling for a low price and I was looking for some opinions. Says it has 2" primaries and a 2.5" collector and it is a 4-2-1. Thanks

I have heard of them and some of the guys run them. I have not seen any before/after dyno results. though.

Are you getting a header to get a header or are you looking for some performance gains? The stock header works VERY well.

I was hoping to get some gains but if the stock one works well I won't worry about it

The ones that I know have been shown to give some gains are the Mugen ($$), the Spoon ($$) and Rick's.

They show the exact same gains at the exact same points. I will let you decide.

Would the Rick's header go good with the Invidia?

I don't know about it being good or bad with a specific exhaust. What I do know is that the Rick's header gives and extra 6 WHP through the middle of the rev range. Whether it was tested with an Invidia or a OEM exhaust, I do not know. You can read the info here:
Rick's 6 Plus Stainless Steel Header

The only dyno charts I saw of a Megan showed gains, but apparently the true difference has been debated over and over. Coupled with Megan Racing's occasionally hit-or-miss quality, and you're left with something that might be real good, or might not be.

In addition to the brands mentioned by gomarlins3, I've also heard good things about the header produced by Toda Racing and the one from Fujitsubo. However, like the others, they're $$$

Agreed on those as well.

I installed a t1r header with my invidia and only picked up about 5 hp at the wheels but if you want cheap easy power with a great racing sound a test pipe and cat back is the way to go. Test pipes can give up to 10hp at the wheels.

I think that is a little high.

I don't think there is a before an after dyno chart for the header. But if it means anything, I'm running it. Definitely a weight reducing part for me. Another reason why is because of the 2.5" collector that goes into my 2.5" header back exhaust. With that being said, running CAI and VAFC - gains are almost +30hp. More importantly, it's how much weight I reduced.

I sure would like to know EXACTLY what you guys are running to see these huge gains in HP. I have been working with S' for over 5 years and have never seen these gains with the mods that are being listed here. With some SERIOUS money put into internal parts/ ECU's/ boost, yes, but not with an intake and VAFC or a header and TP. I have had all of those at various times and the most I ever got was a verified 8 WHP and that was all quality stuff, not eBay/ DC stuff.

I am going to have to see before and after dyno sheets to believe it.

I definitely agree with this. If someone is getting 30 more hp at the rear wheels with what amounts to minor tweaking, I want to see the before and after dyno sheets.

LOL! I was also a skeptic. Here's my dyno sheet.

Healthy AP1 baseline is 200-210hp as a concensus from various people, including S2KI.com members. Dyno 232, gain of 14hp just of VAFC.

14 WHP with a VAFC is impressive. That torque curve is all over the place. Odd how the HP dips after VTEC. Tell your tuner to reset his RPM range to 9000 and you may have gotten some more out of it.

HP keeps going past 9000 (gotta love our cam), but torque stops around 8500 and that's where I set the vafc to blink. Could be the 4.56 gear shifting the powerband, thus the vtec switch at 5500. This dyno won't show if the throttle is steady, it will shift at 5500 but flooring it will force the ECU to switch back to factory 6300 and that's the dip you see on there.
