clutch/oil filters

Was wondering what type of oil filters you guy's suggest? Also I have a 2004 model and have read somewhere at sometime, ( getting a little forgetful ) that there's a sensor or safety devise somewhere on the clutch assembly on the 04 models that wont let you speed shift or if the r's are to high it acts kind of like the rev limiter or something like that. Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

I use only Honda oil filters (you can get them cheap if you buy a case). There is a clutch "fast release limiter" valve on the clutch assembly which can be removed. It releases the clutch slowly at high rev's and quick shifts (it's a PITA). First time that thing kicked in, I thought I had a slipping clutch.

The OEM Honda oil filter you want is #15400-PCX-004

Goes for about 6-7 bucks.

Yes, the clutch delay valve is a pain in the butt. I'm very glad my '02 didn't come with one.

As for oil filters, I've never used anything but K&N filters in my Honda. They cost a bit more than regular off-the-shelf filters, but every independent test I've read has praised them to no end. And one feature I really love about them is they can be put on and taken off with a standard socket wrench (17mm if I remember correctly).

The K&N oil filter part number is HP-1004.

Would that explain why I can't get my tires to chirp on agresssive up shifts? I just assumed the car wasn't powerful enough.

Quite possibly. What kind of tires are you running in the rear?

Nothing really that sticky at all, the Potenza RE750. Treadwear of 340.

Not that it's my goal to chirp the tires on gearchanges, but most other manual-trans cars I've driven you'll ocasionally get rubber on the 1-2 shift and sometimes higher on more powerful cars.

I have used Fram filters on every car I have own for the past 24 years and have had no problems.
