Bent Valve on my 2004 S2000---HELP !!

I have only 22000 miles on my 2004 Honda S2000 but I have just been told today by my dealer that one of my cylinder is misfiring possibly due to a bent valve. And a bent valve can be caused by the driver downshifting at a high RPM. Well first of all, I have never done that. Secondly, even if I have been doing that, it would have been very rarely. I just can't believe that a valve will go out if a careful driver like myself will damage a valve. Thirdly, this is a car with high reving engine, so what is driver supposed to do ?

The dealer is claiming that I might have caused the valve damage and I might have to pay for the repair. It is $1100 just to inspect ! This is totally ridiculous and outragious. I can't believe Honda is doing this to me !

What are you thoughts and experience on this ?

I'd try a different dealer and have them fix it under warranty. If that doesn't work I might try and contact Honda myself.

Bad Dealer man, like bladerunner says contact a different one.Your getting B.S. it sounds like. This guy hasnt even inspected it and is assumeing that it was you that did it??? That should tell you something right there.I hate hearing stories like this, it fires me up,lol.Sorry man. I know i have a good friend with a shop, he does warranty work for all my buds if you know a shop that is good have them look at it and do all the paper work to cover it under warranty. Just a thought.

I had the same problem last year when i got my RSX. I got it used and it was still under warranty, but after a week or so my transmission started acting funny, so i went back to the dealership i got it from. They send me to the ACURA dealership, so i did but i guess the guy that was working with me was having a bad day and he gave me all this B.S about i had to pay all this money before he look at any thing! So knowing me i was not going to take this laying down, so i called a another dealership ,at the end of the story i got my new transmission in my car! In other words just go to another dealership, and try to find that nice guy b/c i did and it helps.
