Pics of the AEM V2 installed

Hey guys I've been scouring a few forums and even Google Images to try and find good pics of this thing installed on the car (as I'm fixin to get one in a week).

I'm just curious as to where the heck the piping routes because looking in my bay I don't see anywhere for it to run to put the filter in a 'cold air' position.

Can anybody find or take some showing where the piping runs?

That about covers it. I see you removed the inner fender liner.

THANK YOU!!! I had no idea where the filter was supposed to go, now it makes sense!

Couple questions for ya hehe.... in one of the pics it looks likethe pipe runs REALLY close to the tire.... is that just the angle, or should I be worried about that?

Also, does having such a long intake pipe affect throttle response at all? seems like that's a pretty good length of piping, compared to stock I mean.

Thanks so much again! I'm gonna go buy one off eBay now haha

Ok for the first questions don't even worry about the tire there no way in hell the tire will hit the intake, unless u put it on wrong... oh u still have the inner fender liner also there. i am just working on my car right now if they were on you would not even see the air filter!!!! For the other question i really don't know much detail on it, i know i felt my car stronger when i put it on!!! The first time you hit vtec it will sound scary, but don't think you will feel a BIG differences its only a intake, may be 1 or 2 HP to the wheels if that!!! If your like me who does not have the wallet for a S.C or T.C it's a good first mod for the price!

Make sure you put a bypass valve on that snorkel or you'll end up buying a nice new engine the first time you drive through a deep puddle. Snorkel type CAI's have the intake close to the bottom of the front of the car and make it easy to suck up water.

...or don't drive through puddles. I had my AEM CAI for many years and never had a problem.

Pretty hard to avoid puddles on the east coast...they're designed in the highways to demonstrate what hydroplaning means.

No, the short ram stops inside the engine bay. Of course it is also pulling in hot air if it's in the engine bay, not cold air like you want.

yes but there seems the be open spaces on the ground that water can splash up into the short ram?

To pull enough water into your intake to cause the engine to hydrolock, you have to pull a significant amount, it's not just a spray. You will be fine. If the water gets high enough to be pulled in with a short ram, you have bigger problems than hydrolock.

When i i nstalled my intake it said to cut a square piece of plastic from the shrowd that directs air to the radiator and now when i wash my car it gets wet and causes my engine to die should i get a new plastic piece or what?

One issue that has popped up on other forums is hydrolock. I beleive the AEM V2 mounts in a spot that the run-off drips right onto. A bit of tape covering the hole in the engine bay will stop this dripping onto the filter, or you can search for a filter "umbrella" which is basically a bit of plastic covering the top half of the filter.

The pipe where it joins the filter is also at a slight angle down, then bends up. This results in a spot where water will likely collect and pool.I think the pipe even has a little plug at this point so you can drain the water out.

The members reporting hydrolock have usually just washed their car, and this seems the likely cause.

has to be a very very large puddle the filter need to pretty much be under water and you gotta be just about full throttle to suck it all the way up. No my other car I worried about puddles.
