California model differences?
So I've been looking at high-flow catalytic converters, and they all say "excluding CA model".
now, this got me thinking - what is different about the ones sold on Cali? My 02 was a Cali car.... I can't find any info on it either, but I'd like to change whatever is CA-specific to be just normal S2k. I'm betting that whatever the differences are, they're reducing power. Anybody know what this is all about? |

It's the first I have heard of there being a difference. I was under the assumption that all S2K's were 50 state legal. I wonder if the cat itself is legal in all states except CA and that's what they mean.

it has to do with being C.A.R.B legal, for our high smog standards, all S2000's can be driven in cali it's the mods that are done to them that can be illegal because they change the emisions output of the car

The catalytic converter on your original car was the same as the one on every other S2k. There is/was no difference in vehicles. The high-flow cat (aftermarket part) is not approved for use in California. There are a lot of parts that don't meet the California air quality standards and therefore will cause the car to fail CA emissions standards.
