VTEC Issue

The problem in my s2000 I originaly thought was a high rpm stumble I can now tell is a problem with the VTEC the engine seems to have a tough time switching profiles, it usually works flawlessly if I ease it over 6000 RPM but at hard acceleration it hesitates to change profiles, or sometimes not at all, or sometimes it will change profiles the switch back. I am not that familiar with VTEC I get the concept but I was hoping someone could shed some light on the problem.

Any mods? Does it happen in every gear? When do you notice it happening? Under certain conditions, aggressive switching of cams may not happen (or slow to happen) because the EMU is saying it's not safe to do so. Research VTEC unmatch to find a little more info. Your computer is saying that it wants the timing be position properly before taking on new AFR/combustion levels. Hope that helps.
