Whistle

Under acceleration, I get this "whistle" from under the hood . It happens between 3000 and 3500 rpm's. It's not a screech like a loose belt. It happened with the stock air box. I just put on a K&N fipk and it still does it. I thought maybe it was coming from somewhere between the air filter and the throttle body, but I guess not. Any Ideas?

'Came on all of a sudden Doc?
Only "whistles" that I'm acquainted with've usually hadda do with intake leaks of one sort r' another. (Ungood in any capacity)
Standin' still with the hood open too?
'Askin' the obvious, but was there anything done under the hood jus' prior to the whistle? Not jus' you: did anybody have your hood up jus' prior?
Be well.
Java
(Y'know, I've got a Simpson helmet that "yodels" when the shield's jus' slightly open. Maybe we can get 'em together n' . . . nah. Probably not.)

I would have someone sit in the car and hold the throttle down to between those revs as you are under the hood and see if you can find it that way.

Oh yeah.
It may not be the religious experience of a V12 Ferrari at full tilt, but it most definitely doth good things for one's soul.
Be well.

I've noticed over the past few months. I thought it was normal, but I've noticed it more over time. Nobody else has been dinking under the hood. I will have to pop open the hood and see if it does it as I rev the throttle while the car is standing still. I've only heard it when I'm driving. I'll pop the hood today and check it out and let you know. Thanks til we meet again.

It doesn't seem to whistle when I just step on the pedal and raise the rpm's (fast or slow). It does it only when the car is under load. It happens in 1st, 2nd, 3rd (& 4th if I shift when the rpm's are low and can drop below 3000 rpm's). It probably happens in 5th and 6th, but I can't hear it over the wind noise. It only happens on acceleration and not on decel. If I'm in a low gear, it happens almost every time I drop below 3000 and go back up through 3500 rpm's (on acceleration only, as I've said). I'm scratchin' my head.

LOL, the classic honda intake whistle. Mine does it as well. As long as I can remember, I heard it for the last 10 years from most Civic's, Integra's, Del Sol's, & CRX's after and intake was put on. It's odd coming from the stock airbox though...

33, that's a common thing with Hondas in general? I don't speak Honda fluently, so I'm certainly no expert on 'em, but while mine can hum ta beat the band . . . it don't whistle.
Obviously, some godditt n' some don't.
But, if it is common, I'd think that Mother Honda'd have some kind'a memo r' somethin' about where it's comin' from n' how'da go about correctin' it, no?
Anybody seen anything on it?
Be well.

Mine does it too, done for a long time. I don't remember when it started, but it has to be at least the last 40k miles. It does it under moderate acceleration. Lift or press harder, and it goes away. I have 105k miles now. I wouldn't worry about it.

It is common and has something to do with the Honda throttle body. Hondas already does it off the lot, aftermarket intakes enhances them from what I heard. It's not detrimental, so I guess it's safe to say your car is abnormal if it doesn't do it - JK. Some does it, others don't - it's fine either way.

Yup Vezna, that's it. I guess if it doesn't impair my performance, I'll leave it alone.
