Valve issue: Sound off!

Please help. I have a bent valve on my 2005 S2000. Honda Care has denied the claim saying it was from improper usage. I drive like a Grandma and wanted to know if members of this community have experienced similar problems.

I read about one user who had similar issuers but was wondering if there were more of you out there and if it were a more common problem than my dealer is letting on.

I've had Honda Products before and driven them in a similar fashion and never had these kinds of issues before. It's very disappointing.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

that's odd

I'm no mechanic or expert, but it's odd that it wouldn't be covered under warranty. is the car all factory? I've heard of guys that have turbo'd their cars, blown the motor, then put the factory intake, exhaust manifold, etc. back on and got new refurbished motors from the dealer. of course these were guys on honda-tech forums, so who knows if it's true or not.

I'm another one that's certainly no expert n' other than purchasin' parts, I've no experience (I live 3 houses down from a Honda dealer. Certainly no good experience) with 'em.
But, from some of the posts (that're obviously written by individuals involved, and therefore somewhat less than unbiased) on the site it seems that Honda sometimes chooses to fix some problems that would seemingly be non-warranty and to deny others that are described as to be shoe-ins.
We had a couple of Honda Techs and Service writers on the site. Maybe they can give you some insight into this.
Be well n' good luck Nator.

It's totally stock

I've done nothing but drive and service the car responsibly. I've already poured in hours fighting with these guys and they want $600 bucks just to put the motor back together so I could take it to a mechanic or another dealer. Unbelievable. Honestly, if I had modified or raced the car I would just own up to it and pay for the repair. It's just incensing that Honda Care doesn't step up and do the right thing.

You like to think that some car companies are different and have some integrity. But at the Dealer level I've yet to find that to be true.

I would be willing to bet you or a previous owner did something wrong. Valves do not just bend. I guess something could have made its way into the intake then into the valvetrain into the cylinder and bent the valve but in that case there should have been nicks in the piston that they would have seen. Or maybe a lack of oil seized the valve in the guide. Or maybe it was over revved. I dont really see any of those things behing hondas responsibility. Anyway about it valves dont just bend.

go to a different dealer and see what they say. i went to the dealer due to a blown front strut. one dealer said that it was my fault for hitting a pothole or something. drove to the other side of town another dealer fixed it under warranty. either way i wasn't charged a dime for it.

Contact American Honda and explain the situation. I can guarantee that someone from that dealer will contact you, singing to a different tune. This is experience talking brother.
