Most of the performance aspect comes from choosing an exhaust that is lighter than stock. Most aftermarket exhausts on this car don't give good gains in terms of HP (even though some claim to).
Generally a single exhaust is lighter than the stock dual exhaust. If sound is the main concern, you can try some of the following: removing the air box lid, using a cold air intake (eg AEM v2), removing the stock resonator from the exhaust. Some people are happy with just these without the need to buy a new exhaust. You may be able to find some sound clips of various exhausts on the net, but in person it can be different. Also sounds different behind the car as opposed to driving the car. |

I started out with just removing the resonator on the oem exhaust, sounds good, nice little growl just slightly louder than with the resonator. Least expensive mod you can do, costs about $40 and takes any muffler shop 15 minutes to do.
After doing ALOT of research mostly on loudness I found something kind of in the mid range. I went with the T1R 63mm Sparrow.........looks great, has an awesome grumble. It does drone slightly at at highway speeds. Others you might be interested in are: Supersprint HKS Hi power Fujitsubo Super Legalis Comptech All of these are all stainless I believe. Supersprint being the most expensive at about $1500, the rest right around $1000 give or take. Heres a site that has some of the sound clips: http://www.s2000library.com/ |

Does removing the resonator change the performance or proper back pressure? Is it something you can do yourself if you're pretty handy?
