Intake

Does anyone know a good brand performance intake for the S2000 AP2? I saw once one that has also a cover to reduce the heat coming from the engine.
Thank you

Comptech supercharger. Just kidding. There a re a few good intakes out there, but none will get you a lot of WHP. I had an AEM before I went with boost and had no problems or complaints. Some people don't like the AEM though because they are worried about hydrolock. I never had a concern and everything was just fine.

K&N

Thank you,
I read about the K&N, it gives a 9HP gain, or that what they claim. And it has a cover to cover the heat. I might go with that.
By the way, is there any law that denies me from having it in California ?

I have the Fujita F5 CAI............love the looks and love the sound when you hit vtec. I think its one of the more popular now, I havent heard of anyone with any complaints about it.

I believe the law in California relates to the CARB certification. I do not live in CA and am only going off what I have read elsewhere. I think any part you put on your engine needs to have CARB certification.

From memory the AEM v2 may be carb certified (or exempt) in CA.

keep in mind that when companys rate there products claim to have 0 to what ever HP gain that product it the weakest link before testing. Eg. K&N intake rated to give around 9HP gain. Whatever it was tested on i'm sure everything else was upgraded except for the intake. Then its ran on a dyno to get base numbers, replace stock intake with there product ran again to show there product gain.

I put a K&N 57 series in my S. Easy install, sounds good and $204 new on ebay. $300 at my local Kragen. The 57 series is legal in Cali but the 63 series is not. I asked K&N the difference and they said " a sticker". On one of the other S sites there is a lot of info. The Fujita F5 seems to be a great intake, but does require some cutting behind the fender well to get the filter in the appropriate spot. I wanted the F5 but didn't want to deal with the install. You read about hydrolock and stuff, but I don't think that's much of a problem in Cal. My S is my daily driver and will see rain and puddles which is another reason I didn't get a CAI such as the F5 (even though I'm in California too). Most people rave about it, so read up on the pros and cons before you make your decision. The other site I speak of is not s2ki (figure it out).
Either way your S will sound louder and feel faster!

I have the V2 on my S and have seen lots of rain down here in GA and have never had a hint of a problem. But i do stay alert to mind the deep puddles just in case.

I have a K&N here in CA. I love the sound and can feel a difference. It gave me an additional 5 miles per hour on Laguna Seca main straight. The 9 HP gain is in the power band, not added to the total car's HP. So, if your car normally produces 200 HP at 7k RPM, it will roughly peak 9 HP higher at 209 at the same point. Total HP peaks slightly lower than stock, 8000 vs 8300 RPM.

After all of these posts on this topic...Isn't it sad to know that you get the most performance using the stock box and a snorkle?
Seriously thats the dead honest truth...Don't you think Honda has done everything in it's power to make HP wherever they could find it?
However I admit if you get your hands on a K&N drop-in filter it couldnt hurt.
Stop wasting money on aftermarket parts guys...seriously.
Unless it's a blower.
