Oil change Experts Please

I am taking my 2007 S2000 for the first time to get its oil changed but the dealership is known for bad service. I am scared they will not use the correct oil that the S2000 uses, how do you know which oil they used?

(the only reason I am going there is because I am a poor college student and they give free oil changes for me. it was part of the deal when i got the car.)

I understand your feelings. They probably use a good oil and will use the correct weight. I would ask the service advisor what is used and would also go over to the parts counter and talk to one of those people. Ask them about buying a filter and what type oil the dealer uses. If you happen to run into one of the mechanics ask them. Good Luck.

Poor college student.......brand new S2000.

Can anyone say "Paradox"?

Regards,
jagg

p.s.
it's an oil change...don't worry about it. pretty much any oil and any brand filter will do, as long as it's done when it needs to be.
do yourself a favor, and check the level when they're done, and monitor it for leaks for a couple of days afterwards, then put it out of your mind till next time.

you ain't kidding Doc.
But , he sounds like a bright lad, and I'm sure he realizes just how lucky he is to have such a fine auto at such a tender age. As long as he hasn't peaked early, he'll do just fine.

I got a watch for graduation. Glad to get it too. I have no problem with the ghostface getting a car for graduation from college many of the little stinkers have them in high school. Any parent who buys their kid a high performance car or even worse a crotch rocket motorcycle needs to work in an ER for one night and see the carnage which stupidity reaps. And we are all stupid at 16, 17 years of age but hopefully not as stupid as that parent. Bubblerboy

You can stand at the service bay door and watch them. Heck, ask the service guy what viscosity he is using. He should answer 10W30. Don't be shy, talk with him. I have made some good connections at a couple of Honda dealerships just by talking with they folks there. One of them donated an old Honda engine to my after school class so the kids could take it apart and see how an engine works. Not bad for a junior high class.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
