Still wondering about first oil change.

My '07 has 3700 miles of easy driving and the "Oil life indicator" says it's down to 20%. The general consensus here seems to be to wait until 7500. The oil doesn't look too bad - just a tad darker than the VTEC part of the valve cover. I'm thinking that the particulates might give a better break-in if I wait until 7500. What do y'all think? And should I switch to synthetic when the time comes?

Any/all advice appreciated!

-Steve

I think you should do what the car is telling you to do.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

FIRST AND ANY OIL CHANGES

I have an 06 and I bought the car from the original owner with only 2300 miles on it. I changed the oil when I got it with 10w-30 Mobil 1 full synthetic and a factory Honda oil filter only because the car probably sat for over a year without an oil change. I am a service advisor for a Toyota dealership and even though the manual will say up to 7500 miles per oil change, because of the driving most people do here in New Jersey, we suggest no more than 5000 miles. The manual also states that if the miles do not accumulate within 5 or 6 months, to get one anyways. So at least twice a year is a good idea regardless of the miles.

PS. Use a Genuine Honda oil filter and drain plug gasket regardless of the
oil you use, trust me....you should see some of the crap people put on their cars!

I think you should get those particulates out of there before they cause unnecessary wear. I have never gone the distance with a first oil change in any new car and I cut open the filter to see whats in there. Change it, it's cheap insurance.

Yeah its either that they put only 1600 miles in 6 months or they put 5000 miles in 2 months! If you see an 06 Laguna Blue with tinted windows, then you'll know its me, btw.
