Need to know!!
Im looking at getting a cold air intake. I see AEM and other brands that are $300+, then there are intake for under $100. Is there a big difference between the two or are you mostly paying for the name? What if i were to get a cheap intake and get a K&N filter?
It would be great if i could save 200+ dollars |

From everything I've read, if you want good gains from an intake, put a compressor on it. Exhaust or belt driven is okay.

Although, from what I've read as well, Honda made the same sacrifices they did on my old Civic. They added baffles to compromise sound and performance. On the Civic intake, I took a Dremel to it and took out the baffles. I may do the same thing to this one in the spring. Did I gain anything? A cooler sounding intake, what felt like a little more pep, but unconfirmed, and I spent an hour on it.

There really is not any significant difference. I had an AEM V1 and bought an eBay version later because I wanted a different color. I changed my mind and sold the eBay version to a local S2K owner. Other than a set of poor installation instructions, they worked the same. He called me as he was trying to install his and I drove over and we used my tubing as a guide and got his taken care of.
Installation isn't hard, just a little time consuming and there is some cutting of the under car plastic .
