Non F20C/22C problem lol

Just throwing this on as many forums as I can for help wherever it might come from.

Vehicle is an 2004 Sti with 37,000 miles. Timing belt has already been replaced and cylinder head is new. All belts are good as well.

happened after a short but hard pull at about 45mph, any ideas?

For those that can't see YouTube:

sounds sounds like it's coming from here...

Thanks for any help you might have.

Well we took it down the road just to see if he could limp it to work tomorrow, and it started making the noise A LOT louder, and then added a nice squealing tone as well... So, it's definitly a belt or something that spins rubbing... Timing belt was already replaced... All other visible belts appear just fine...

sounds like the timing belt is too tight, check the tensioner and make sure it didnt lock up, also make sure it isnt a oil fed tensioner meaning it pushes the tension on it when it receieves oil pressure. because if it is, then it might be blocked and possibly not putting enough tension on it

that's one very looooooooong timing belt!

Anyways, that video is so dreadfully dark... maybe take another during daylight? I can't really begin to guess without seeing all the components working...

Timing belt was replaced months ago(8ish months?), not just recently... Could this still be the problem?

Doesnt sound like a bearing squealing or a belt squeal. Sounds like a gear misaligned or something rubbing on the pulleys. Dont suppose you could get it running on the stand with that cover off just like it is in the picture? Help a lot that way.

Your harmonic balance could be off.. Even just try pulling the pulley's off and putting them back on and see if it still does that.

If the timing belt was slipping the engine wouldn't run. Hard to tell on line, but to my ear it sounds like a water pump or bearing.
Excess tension would put a load on the bearings.
