valve adjust problem...

So I just got this 01 s2000 great car only ticked really bad so I did the valve adjustment as per specs.. .08 on intake and .11 on exhaust. Thousand miles later ticking really bad again so I pop the valve cover and the intake are .11 and exhaust .12 is the tappet screw backing out? Has anyone had this problem as well? Thanks for any input

You need to tighten the lock nut down to spec. I use a crows foot wrench for some of the hard to reach ones.

I did. One of them I overtorqued and broke and had to replace.

Having fun.....or bouncing it off the rev limiter often?
Other than the ticking----any performance losses?

well come to think ya there was a power loss. I dyno'd 198whp stock then did cai, 63mm exhaust with test pipe, ngk irridiums, and the valve adjustment, Then dyno'd 190whp on the same dyno. And not off the rev limiter but in vtech alot.

I'd reset the valves again.....make sure you've got everything torqued to spec....(look close at tappets themselves),

then check the timing to be safe. Lots of miles on the engine?

redid valves, felt good for about 20 miles now starting to feel slow again. Only 40k on the motor.
