Going to look at an S2000 today, need your advice.
Hello,
I have always loved the looks of the S2000 and am now in a position to buy one. I'm going to look at a 2002 tomorrow. I am now having second thoughts after scanning the board and noticing all the driveline problems. If I decide to buy one, can you please give me some advice as to what I am getting myself into? I thought since it was a Honda it would be extremely reliable. Any information you can give me in regards to this decision would be much appreciated. Hopefully I will be a fellow owner on this site soon! Thanks, Alex |

"All the driveline problems???" 'Don't know how you came to that conclusion from any research SIT. Nothin' could be further from the truth.
Ain't a piece'a machinery known ta man that can't be done in by stupidity 'r continued abuse. This particular piece'a machinery'z got a chrome circle H brand onnitt n' it does what Mother Honda intended it to real well, with very (as in very) few problems. Yer comin' up with bogus results from yer research m'man. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go (the way he drives, you ain't likely ta pass 'im anyway) But you do godda redo yer research. "All the driveline problems" ain't whu'cha should be comin' up with. Be well, Java

mainly people who have driveline problems are ones who track/autox their cars and or who turbo the and supercharge them, other than that its really reliable and should give you any problems

SIT - Maybe you got your info from a parallel universe where Hondas have the quality of Yugos!
Dunno, but on this side of the protal the S2000 is rock solid. You can't get a better 2 seater for the money. Choosing a year is easy. Either 00-03 model year, or 04 to present. (AP1 - AP2) Personally I like 06 to present for the features that were added like VSA amongst others. Good luck in the hunt !

Stay away from anything that's been "modded".
Ma Honda makes a solid, reliable ride, but ain't no protection from some folks' ideas'a "improvin' Ma'z sweet ride. Good luck n' keep us posted. Java

Greetings S.I.T.,
I can understand how you came to this conclusion searching the threads, because many folks pop in from time to time to for advice on fixing their problems. From what I gather, most of these problems are self-inflicted. I could break a brand new Ferrari in under 5 minutes. S2000 gets an uber-excellent reliability rating from all the institutions that test that kind of thing. It's a great idea to shop for ceritfied pre-owned S2000's. That way, you're covered by the factory in the event of some malfunction or (heaven forbid) breakdown. All the years of the S2000 are excellent. Buy as new as you can afford, with as much warranty as possible. You won't be disappointed. Good Luck, jagg |

Never had a driveline problem, and on my second stewie. My only problem was a space-time thing with another guy in the parking lot, but the body damage got fixed and it's all well now! Just screw on your gas cap and you shouldn't ever have an engine light...
