Do you guys think i can get a replacement K&N filter at like autozone or where else may have it? Is it specifically for the s2000 or just fits? Thanks in advance

you have to buy the model that specifically fits the S. you can get them at autozone (but you will probably have to order it). surprisingly enough, you can buy them on Amazon, which is pretty cool because i had an Amazon gift card that I used.

Local parts stores should have them if you are still OEM.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I don't know about it's claim of 5 hp gain, but I guess it would help direct air toward the intake.

i'm getting a air filter. it should be much better than the stock paper filter.

anyone make any changes like cutting the wall so more air can be sucked in?

I was wondering why there is a wall. My friend cut his.

I was thinking of just keeping the top off, since the k&n filter is much better than the regular paper filter, it should keep extra dust away.

Anyone have knowledge or ideas?

Keep the lid on. Heat soak will kill your performance, but sound nice. Its not worth it. You usually will loose a few whp by having it off. The reason why the FIPK K&N cold air system doesn't have a top is because it has a huge heat shield covering the intake filter and the filter is relocated farther from the engine so it doesn't get affected by the heat soak as much.

I bought my drop in k&n air filter from o' riley auto parts. I later found out you could get them way cheaper off of the internet. I paid like 60 bucks before tax.

It does not filter better than a stock paper one. It lets a little more air in as well as more dirt. If it were better, Honda would use them.

what about that plastic wall parallel to the top of the cone?

seems like they dont need it. i know honda wouldnt put something there if its not needed.

but it looks like it restricts air flow.

It seems like it is used to keep heavier items such as smaller particals and rocks in that area to make it easier to clean.
That wall traps the particals from flowing around the air filter box.

does anyone know if the k&n cold air intake is worth it?

when i have the hood off for the air filter
and also the hood for the engine open

and rev it, the rpm goes A LOT faster
i mean, A LOT

compared with the cover on the air filter

(but that is with cold air with the engine hood open)
