Fuel System problems.

I have a 2000 Stewie and I just replaced the fuel bypass valve overflow evap and then today had it replaced again...should I be expecting this to pop up often or is there something else that could be causing this to happen? my mechanic said not to top it off at the gas station, which I don't and no one else drives my car...so there must be something else right?

anyone had this issue?

Looks to be more environmental than anything else.

Because you can end up pulling fluid instead of vapor into the evap canister. This usually causes a check engine light and eventually you have to replace the canister and/or other evap system parts. Worst case is if you fill at night when it's cool (say 65 degrees) and then let it sit during the day and get to 105. You'll have approximately 0.4 gallons more in the tank which could cover the evap lines with liquid gasoline. (for those who want to do the math, the coefficient of expansion for gasoline is 0.0007/degree F)

I haven't heard of these going out and having a problem. I have topped off the S a few times to the point where fuel came back out (nice job dummy). Never had a problem or a CEL.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

well flyingarmadillo I think was probably right with his assessment, I didn't top it off or anything so it had to be an expansion issue, sry for the slow response work , work , work.

I just stop it like a dollar or two short of full now so no problems so far.

just washed the s last night hopefully I'll be getting some good pics up before it rains again here. lol. its impossible to keep her clean in the monsoons!

Your mechanic might be an idiot. He'll say anything to get you off his back.

I'm pretty lousy at the pump. I had fuel spilling out of my gas tank almost everytime I went filling it up. And I do not have this problem.

lol my mechanic is NOT an idiot by anymeans. He is on of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy people I have met in this town. Everyone else in town wants to rip you off and steal anything on your car that they like or installed. I recomend Parker Automotive to everyone I meet with a hond/acura, nissan/infinity, or toyota/lexus.

so guess what? same damn problem, I have an appt with the honda dealership on Friday, but this is the third time this "part" has gone bad, so there obviously is something else wrong with car.

has anyone else had anything like this happen? if not how should I handle the dealership because I have a feeling that they are dicking me around becuase I'm a younger guy, (21) and there is no way this is my fault. I JUST bought this car from them.

Thanks for any help, Boy am i frustrated

sounds like there may have just been a mis communication between mechanic and secretary when I picked up the car for the second time about whether the code had been reset, so when I took it to Honda, they had the car all day and told me to come back it if popped the code again, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Luckily there were no charges for this time around and I think I lucked out
