Intake filter question

I have AEM CAI and I kinda wanted to switch back to stock air box and maybe drop in a mugen filter or spoon filter.

would they make difference significantly?

like this one from spoon
http://www.nengun.com/spoon/air-cleaner

and how does this mugen filter work?
http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Merchant...E&Store_Code=EM

and this mugen filter seems to be sold out everywhere. anyone know where i can get them?
http://www.shopresponse.com/mugen_dr...ilter_ap2.html

thanks in advance!!

You are paying for bragging rights. Buy a AEM drop in filter and a snorkal and call it a day.

Hes not being hostile.

The "bragging rights" is for the Spoon or Mugen name in your car. It won't give you anymore power than the AEM or K&N drop in filters. It just costs a lot more and has the Spoon/Mugen name.

I have seen the dyno graphs on the Mugen airbox I own and it showed +5 hp in the midrange. And I could definitely feel it when I installed it many years ago. Also it is a beautifully made dry carbon part with a reusable filter. Don't listen to those who are too cheap or too stupid to use parts made by Mugen which is owned by Honda and makes specifically for the S.

We're talking about the drop in filters. Not the air boxes.

Thank you for your input on my wealth and knowledge. I appreciate your input. I really do.

BTW quoted from wikipedia, "Despite the family connections, however, Mugen is not, and has never been, owned by Honda."

Lol yea i think the mugen intake will give you "more" then a drop in for sure but for the money the extra 5hp may not be worth it to everyone but when it comes to drop ins i would say ur paying for the name for sure.

thank you all for you input

dezignpro04, sorry if i misunderstood what you were trying to tell me.

that's basically all i wanted to find out. see if it's worth the money. i would love to have mugen or spoon parts on my S for the 'braggin rights' but if it's gonna cost me that much money and that little gain, i would rather sitck with my AEM CAI that i have or switch back to OEM air box and get k&n drop in filter or something

thank you all once again!!!

Dude, seriously WTF! I swear the last 15 posts you have put up have been parts whoreing. Do you f'n work for Mugen?? Geez. I may be frugal and SMART not to spend the same amount of money on something that will net the same gains as something 1/5 is cost. You are the incompetent person that apparently has too much money and has to spend it for "Bragging Rights" cause that is ALL you do around here any more. Stop posting STUPID replys to threads and thinking that everyone else is stupid or cheap. I used to value your opinion when I first joined that board, but now I think you are just full of a lot of hot air!

When it comes to a drop in filter, there are no differences between the gains of an AEM, K&N, Spoon or Mugen filter. Yes there is a dyno sheet to show it. When I find I will post. Intakes systems is a different story. But then again are you going to spend $800 more for a system that will gain you +2 hp than the other intake system? To me spending $400 per hp is F'n ridiculous.

But thats just me, cause I'm sure desmo thinks that is a great deal.

Yeah, you misunderstood, but thats ok. Seriously buy a K&N filter with a snorkel or just stick to your CAI. Save your hard earned money for some rims or other mods you want.

Everyone on this site is going to have an opinion. Remember to ask people for theirs while still keeping yours and making your car into what you want it to be.

Well I personally have Axis Reverb 18" rims. Axis makes a lot of nice rims, and most of there designs and rims are styled and created by the infamous RAYS Engineering who also makes Volk Wheels. But they don't cost what rays does. Here is a link to some.

Main Homepage: http://www.axiswheels.com/wheels.php

http://www.wheelmax.com/axis_wheels.asp

http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wh....cfm?Brand=130

Here is a pic of the ones on my car..

Hope that helps....

They don't manufacture all of them, but a lot of the designs are inspired by their rim style. Both companies work pretty closely together.

There rims are also very light for there size.

My rims are:

F: 18x7.5 with 215/40/18 - 19lbs
R: 18x9.5 with 265/35/18 - 22lbs
