AEM CAI filter cleaning... need help!!!
Hey guys and gals!!!
I have AEM V1(?) CAI installed by previous owner and it seems like he never cleaned his filter on this thing. I just checked the other day and it's very dirty. I was looking thru some sites to get the AEM filter cleaning kit but the decription says DRY FLOW FILTER ONLY. Can anyone kinda explain to me what dry flow filter is? and what type mine is? Also, can I install dry flow filter on my intake? Thanks in advance!!! Tae |

You can use any kind of filter for your air intake as long as it fits.

When buying an aftermarket filter to fit your aftermarket CAI its highly recomended that you measure the pipe diameter yourself before your purchase.

Theres two different types of air filters. Dry and oil. Dry is simply, just the filter and the filter alone catches dirt. Oil is like K&N where you have to oil it every so often. The oil is sticky for the dirt and catches the dirt.

Hey Dude I have AEM V2 CAI, same deal dry flow filter. The way to clean it is some soap and warm water in a bucket.DO NOT scrub the filter just put it in the bucket of soap and warm water and spin it around for a few minutes like a washing machine does with your cloths. DO NOT put it in the washing machine!LOL Then put it in the sun until it is dry, make sure it is completely dry before you put it back on. You don't want any water to get into the intake. The reason they came up with this filter is because people were over oiling their K&N filters and oil was getting into the intake. NOT GOOD
