1/4 Mile
I just raced my S2000 down the 1/4 mile, the best time I ran was a 14.9 at 152.12 K/mh. If I was to put a EMS aftermarket computer in my S2000, is it possible to run a high 13's? Anyone have an idea...

A good driver can put up a 13.9 with a stock S2000.
The key to lowering your time would be getting your launch technique perfected. jagg |

I have lowered springs on the car because I normally drive it on 20 inch rims, do you think the lowering of the springs can have an effect on the time because of excessive wheel spin? It was my first time that I ever ran on the track.

Any wheel spin would be corrected by proper use of your right foot.
20" rims are bad for an S2000. jagg |

Racing or not, 20" rims bad for S2000.
As far as generating less wheel spin on a 1/4 mile shot......practice. |

The S2000 really isn't a very good car for drag racing, BUT if you really want to do it:
1) Get some slicks 2) Experiment with tire pressure and launch rpm to get them to hook 3) Be prepared to buy parts

I think you need at least 50hp per second for drag racing. I just guess. Don't flame me!

Drag racing is all about the weight/horsepower ratio. Decrease the weight or add horses and you'll cut the elapsed time. Rule of thumb is that cutting 100 lbs is the same as adding about 10 hp for a streetable car.
You can calculate your approximate ET: ET = 5.92 x cube root of (weight/hp). For example, my '06 S2000 weighs 2855 lbs. Add 185 lbs for me = 3040 lbs. 3040 lbs divided by 237 hp = 12.827 The cube root of 12.827 is 2.341 2.341 x 5.92 = 13.85 (approx ET) Git it?

It sounds like the S2000 is capable of doing high 13s if the driver is 185lbs or less!

Let's call it the Danica Patrick effect....Now, multiply a possible .2 sec per lap X 240, and you've got an idea of a slight advantage. jagg |
