should i buy this s2000 with 105k

hey guys i just signed up because ive been looking to get a s2k but wanted to get some advice before i make a purchase

There is a black 2001 convertable for sale with 105k and the guy is asking $8900. The owner says the car is in excellent condition and he is the original owner.

Do these cars expereience problems with these kind of miles? I know alot depends on how well they were maintained but is there any common issues at this millege?
And is $8900 a fair price?

Thank you your input is greatly appreciated

There's a lot of variables to look at with an S with a 100k + miles, but it's ultimately a Honda. Mine has 105k on it too with zero problems so far. If the car wasn't beat on too hard too often, you should be fine. The LSD's are notorious of going out with hard driving, and the clutch was always a weak point with the drivetrain... especially if it has never been changed from the crap factory one. Regardless, I love my S and wouldn't be happy with any other sports car. The $8900 price is a steal for great condition one owner. It has my vote!

i paid 9800 and mine had 123,000 miles and it is in excellent condition, do a car fax and look for any paint work, you might take it to a independent dealer and have it looked at, also there should be documents on it sense its a one owner.i would say drive it and if it drives good all checks out buy it...

My guess is if you're buying an S for 8900 is that you won't have enough to buy new tires... which is a yearly thing for me and I only drive mine in the summer months. Also check the top and make sure there are no developing tears. A new soft top is very expensive to replace because of the labor involved unless you do you're own work.

do a carfax and see if there are any issues. the best thing you can do is look over the car with a fine tooth comb and ask the seller A LOT of questions. If he is trying to hide something, he will become weary and you will be able to def. tell if he's tellin u the truth about the car. Or at least this has worked with me. lol GL and hope u get it!

105,000 miles on a Honda is most certainly not a big deal BUT several things are. Firstly, what is the condition of the clutch and transmission? What's the condition of the LSD? Did the car get its 100,000 mile tune-up? Like most of the men said, have a professional check out the car completely before you purchase it. What I'm saying is, that $8900 purchase price can turn into $12,000 total in repairs when youre done.

check (ask about ) what's been point out already (clutch, differential), also ask about timing belt (water pump), brake rotors and pads, tires, valve adjustment, shocks, and any other maintenance. $8900 is a good price, but you may end up spending another $3-4K or more on stuff i just listed.
