Talking Which Year is Best?

I don't know a whole lot about cars, but I have my mind set on an s2000. My brother told me that one year red lines a lot higher than the rest. Which one is that?

Not to be rude but this is a VERY popular question, You will not get an answer on this at all everyone is back and fourth test drive them both if money is not an option. If it is then you will have to go with what you can afford

Actually, I think this is a valid post. He first started off by saying he doesnt know a lot about cars, meaning that he will not have a clue about AP1 or AP2. So he couldn't have known to search for that. But then again he could've googled "S2000 higher redline" haha

AP1 (2000-2003) 2.0L with 9k redline
AP2 (2004-2009) 2.2L with 8k redline

Depends on what you want. If you think the 9k redline makes the car better then go for 00-03. If you think an extra .2 liters and 10lbs of torque make the car better then go for an 04-09. All up to you Mr Jonesy.

Being a valid post or not, You will never get a clear answer about this, Who ever owns an ap1 talks down about ap2, and vice versa. I think the newer you can get the better.. But hey thats just my opinion

Andy-man, there's plenty of threads on this. Do a search and observe the past feuds. Stay away from the plastic back window, if you can. The ap2 interiors got nicer and the tail lights look much better IMO.

I am sure this is going to come across wrong but are you sure an S is for you. This is an awesome car, it does things that not allot of cars can do. BUT...it can also bite you in the a$$ in a heart beat if you dont know what you are doing. A good working knowledge of how cars work, I dont want to say it is a most but it sure does help...ALLOT, will keep you from making some very expensive and potentially even more costly mistakes.

If you do decide on an S just make sure that you understand how it works before "testing" what it can do.

Sorry didn't mean to rant. I have an AP1 MY00 and absolutly love this car. But I also give it much respect.

Good luck.

Kevin

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
