Replacing the back window?
Can I upgrade my crappy plastic back window with the updated glass window of the newer modles?

I dont believe that's possible because the plastic window zips in to the top. you would probably have to buy a top with the glass window.

i live in san diego and own a 2000 S2K; i've had to replace the vinyl rear window 3 times over the years and at $500/pop, i'm unhappy! i was told that the soft-top replacement w/glass will not fit the 2000 year car because of the way the top folds. so i'm stuck with the vinyl and am about to replace it, yet again; any suggestions on how to keep the damn thing from looking like a garbage can liner? i've tried several products, i wash by hand, i even keep it covered. the whole thing's making me very sad!

no. first time i've heard of that. how does that help? also, what's good to use on the plastic headlight covers if they're beginning to fog over? i've tried "glass," doesn't do a thing. should i replace them? thank you for your response.

When clear plastic starts to discolor, gettin' to look like the lens itself is sufferin' from a 3 pack-a-day habit, it's usually the plastic aging n' breakin' down into the chemicals from which it came, leachin' out some, leavin' behind the brownish remains: replacement time.
But if it's just surface abrasion that's givin' it a hazy look, somethin' like Meguirs r' one of the other polish/wax combinations n' some elbow grease can bring the surface back to pretty much like-new condition. Be well. Java

thanks for the advice. i've tried the meguirs; showed a small improvement. it is 6 years old, i guess it's time to replace. on another note, i found detailed instructions on how to modify an '02-'03 soft top w/glass to fit the '00 car. any advice on whether it's a viable option?

Did you try a buffin' machine with the Meguirs? I preach elbow grease, but sometimes you jus' godda plug things in.
I couldn't say on the top question, but if the source of that info on the top was Halo's post, you can take it to the bank. Be well n' keep us posted. Java
