velcro

ok, this may sound stupid, but i just noticed that the velco strap near my back window (on the outside) was hanging loose. this is the velcro strip that is attached to the inside flap of the canvas hood (touching the rear window). the other side is coming loose too. it looks like it hits right against the outside frame (on the sides) of the back window. i have an extended warranty but i don't know if it would cover something like this and whether it would be worth fixing given the $50 deductible. any thoughts on how i can reattach this strip to the canvas (what to use, etc. - looks like some sort of glue)? also, is there suppose to be a corresponding velcro strip attached to the outside of the rear window? I only noticed the velcro strips attached to the canvas part - seems like there should be a corresponding piece right where it touches the outside of the rear window. did this fall off?

'Can't say'z I remember the title, but there's a similar thread in the files somewhere. As I recall, after many attempts at makin' sense'a it, it appeared to be an solution to stiffenin' an area that oscillated at speed.
Maybe.
At least it ain't nothin' left over from somethin' that fell off.
Be well.

the same thing has happened to my '03 as well. from what i believe, it seems to be something softer than the tops material rubbing against the window when the top is up or down. and the white on the other side is the glue that helps secure it to the top. i plan on just running a thin bead of silicone down the strip and re-aplying it to the top.

good luck buddy!

Is this the soft, nappy half of the velcro? As it's actually touchin' the window, could it be in place to prevent the edge of the top from wearin' a scratch in the window as it vibrates against it at speed?
Aaaay. I'm reachin' here.
Be well.

no, i don't have the soft fuzzy part of the velcro. just the rough half that's glued to the canvas. is there suppose to be the other part (the soft fuzzy part)? and if so, where does that go?

'Sorry Driver, I was jus' wonderin' which part was involved n' takin' a stab at why they might'a had the soft part in that spot. If I'm not mistaken this is the same song n' dance we went through the last time someone wondered what the hell it was.

Shoe-Goo's some pretty potent stuff. I'd be really surprised if it didn't work, but it ain't somethin' (Shoe-Goo vs. Stewie's top) that I've done before.
'Sorry I ain't got more to offer than that Driver.
Good luck n' keep us posted.
