Exclamation leaky somthing

when it rains or i wash my car i somehow get water in the bottom of my trunk. the water dosent come through the top of the trunk because nothing in my trunk is wet except the bottom of the tool kit and under the carpet. i took the whole back plastic/carpet out and cleaned it out once but i dont want to do that every time it rains hard. dose anyone know where it might be coming from or how to fix the problem.

Thanks,

You need to check with desmo4 on S2kca.com. He had this problem and found the solution. You have a AP-1, right?

Cars built from 2000 to 2003 are the AP-1 series. In 2004 the engine displacement was increased from 2 liter to 2.2 liter, the redline was set at 8k, and there were cosmetic differences (headlights, tail lights, bumper configuration). You have a AP-1 series.

There is a VERY small chance that the air outlet is some how messed up and is allowing water to come in. Behind the bumper is a plastic/rubber flap that allows air to escape when you close the trunk. If that flap has somehow been removed or broken, it MAY let water in.
You can see the little flap in the photo. The wires are for my trailer, ignore them.

You can check from the inside of the trunk by pulling the liner away from the rear (closest to you when you are standing behind the car) of the trunk area.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I had the same problem in my AP1. When Southern Cal had their massive rainy season in Jan-Mar '05, I found about 2-3 inches of water in my trunk, plus the carpet under the driver's seat was saturated. I thought my new top was leaking, but the dealership could not find any leak. I never found out what the problem was and never pursued it since San Diego rainy seasons happen once every 5-6 years.

Now that my S is garage kept, it has much less time sitting in the rain and it hasn't been a problem. I thought maybe it was leaking by the tail light because I was getting a lot of condensation on the passenger side light during rainy days. Also, I have had my bumper repainted and replaced from people running into me and I figured that may have had someting to do with it as well.
