rear window

Hey guys, The rear window in my 2000 S2000 has fogged up to the point where i cannot see out of it. The car was absolutely babied (less than 7k miles) but I understand theres no stopping that from happening with time. Is there a cheap fix? can I replace it with glass and if so any ideas how much it would cost?

Rick, the plastic rear window is a pretty good indicator'a the condition of your top. Before ya go crazy fixin' 'r replacin' the rear window, make sure you're not doon it n' then when you're done the top's godda be replaced anyway.
As for cleanin' the plastic, you can bring most clear plastic back to damned near original with somethin' like Mecquiers (I know I'm spellin' that wrong . . . wait a minnitt . . the way I spell . . . who'z gonna notice?) but the original finish ain't there no more n' that's whut allows it to last as long as it does for it's first tour'a duty.
Bringin' it back with somethin' like Mecguiers (See above) will have it goin' hazy on you again in short order.
'Hope that's at least a little help.
Be well n' good luck,
Java

Hi Rick,

they make a plastic polish that you can try on it before you go thinking about replacing it. It's the same kind of stuff you'd use if the plastic lenses on your headlamps were fogging up. Auto parts stores will have it, and it's an easy enough task. Worth a shot, at a minimum.

Good Luck,
jagg

Novus # 2 will clear it up. Any polish will take a lot of work to get results.

Yea the top is in great condition besides the back window. It definatly doesnt need replaced. So is it true that you could maybe replace the plastic for glass that comes in them now? ulitmatly thats what i want to do. Thanks for the help.

I have a 2000 also. That back window just sucks. You can buy the plastic window cleaner. It works well for about a month then it tends to fog back up. I am about to buy a new top anyways because mine is almost shot with the small tears on the sides from when it hits when you put the top down. If you have the money i would suggest buying a new top with the glass rear window. The fog will only get worse sorry.....Hope this was help

I have a 2000 also and my window does that but regular old glass cleaner works for me. It always comes clean but looks like crap if i dont do it every week or so. I only have 20000 on my 2000 also so it has been well taken care of the windows are junk.

The stuff Java Junky is trying to spell works pretty good, but it does not last a long time. Can you replace the plastic window with glass like in the later models?
