slight scratches
i had my s2k detailed today and was hoping that they would be able to buff out some fine line scratches on the bumpers and around the wheel wells....very fine and not able to feel on the surface....because they were not on metal they were unable to take care of these....does anyone have any suggestions to take these out? the only one that would ever notice these scratches would be me but i know that you can all relate to that feeling....

Don, I'm surprised that the detailer couldn't get out the fine line scratches you mentioned. That's basic Detailing 101.
An orbital buffer such as the Porter Cable with the appropriate pad (generally a white pad) with a good polish or scratch remover from Meguiars, Mothers (there are many other brands) will do the trick. Or you can try Meguiars scratch remover in a black tube. About 6 bucks in any auto parts store. You can apply by hand with good results. It will take longer than with the PC but you'll get the desired results. Keep us posted.

I would echo S2000dude's advice, or try a fine rubbing compound. Be careful not to go too deep in to the clear coat.

My S2K has a small scratch that no one has ever noticed, even after I pointed it out to them continuously, and it bugs me because I know I see it, but for some reason, nobody else does... Maybe I'm crazy? IDK...
Anyway, I was thinking about using some sort of buffering utensil, too, but I don't want to mess anything up, so I might as well leave it alone. The point is: If it's not broken, don't fix it. In this sense, I mean, if nobody else can notice the small scratchs on your S2000, then don't fret. |

I'm suprised too. Buffing should be able to remove those fine scratches. Keep us updated.
