Carwash or not?

Do carwashes come to a stage where they don't mess up the varnish or not?

Wash or not?

Never- Never- Never subject your S2K to a car wash, no matter how "gentle" they say the carwash is on your paint. I have an 01 Yellow S2K and the beauty of this car is its glow and clear shine. No swirls - not even one. Because of the shape of the front of the car (hood and fenders), it will quickly display any blemishes on the surface so it is not worth it. Your S2K deserves more care than your Chevy so treat it like the car it is.

We have touch-less car washes here. Its pretty much a hand wash plus machine spray and rinse. My last car was black and it always came out looking great. They miss spots sometimes but I never received any damage or swirl marks.

Remember....no one will ever wash it as well as you will. You are your best critic.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO WASH WITH WARM WATER AND A COOL SURFACE OF THE PAINT. IF YOU HAVE A S2K AND YOU DONT HAND WASH IT YOU ARE LAZY!!!!!! AND THAT IS IT.

WHEN YOU TAKE TO CAR WASH NO MATTER HOW GENTAL OR BRUSHLESS THE CHEMICALS AND HIGH PURESSURE WATER WILL DAMANGE THE PAINT. IF YOU TAKE TO A CAR WASH THAT WASH BY HAND YOU BETTER WATCH OUT.....FOR THEY WILL USE OLD WASH RAGS WITH DIRT AND BRAKE DUST ON IT.............NEVER USE THE RAG YOU WASH YOUR RIMS WITH TO WASH YOUR CAR'S PAINT FOR IT HAS BRAKE DUST. YOU SHOULD HAVE 2 DIFFERNT WASH RAGS FOR EACH JOB. ALSO WASH THE CAR'S PAINT BEFOR YOU WASH THE RIMS.... FOR MIXING WILL ADD BRAKE DUST INTO THE WATER.

What about the soft top? Does the water harm to it?

You aren't supposed to wash the soft top with detergent. Otherwise, water doesn't harm it... sun (more specifically UV light) does.

I would stay away from car washes of any kind with the S. Nothing is better than double mitts, plus a dedicated mitt and bucket for the wheels.

Note that I've seen some carwashes in LA where there were some fairly high dollar cars running through (saw one on Wilshire with a Modena, Viper and E55 being wiped dry) but you never know who owns those cars, or whether they really care about the finish that much or are just posers flaunting their whips.

Don't use high pressure water to wash the car. If you really don't want to wash the car yourself, take it to a detailing type place that hand-washes cars.

There's so damned little of it, I can't think of any reason to even consider puttin' it under some machine that will swallow a Durango, a Hummer r' my Stewie n' "universally" fit them all.
'Sides . . if I don't get aroun' to washin' it . . God does it. 'Wouldn't wanna deny me my religious beliefs now . . would'ja?
Be well. (n' fer cryin' out loud . . grab a bucket n' a soft, clean rag)

Smile Hand Washing Prefferred!

I've always been big on handwashing my vehicles, in my opinion, it's better for the surface of your car, and if you truly love your car, it's like rubbing your woman. Nice! That's as far as I'll take that, but you all know what I'm talking about, (the car that is). lol
