I was looking at the Sony website and came across a new stereo I have not seen before. It seems Sony has taken the I-Pod Stereo to a new level and at excellent prices. The face plate lowers and the I-Pod or MP3 device connects inside the stereo and then you simply close the door. There is no CD slot but many people are like me and no longer use CD's in the car. I generally just load the CD's on my I-Pod. I will include a link. Hopefully it will work. The model numbers are DSX-S200X for $199.95 and DSX-S100 for $149.95.

So after 3 years 11 months and 10 days of owning my stewie I finally decided it was time to lower my seat. I was tired of having my steering wheel be 1 inch away from my mammoth legs. So basically I just took my seat cover off drilled some new holes bashed some metal and walla now I have 2 inches. It wasnt to hard of a job and I would suggest it to gain a little bit of room if youre a big mofo. So that is all.

Hello all,

Had my S2000 for almost a week now and loving it. Working a list up of audio improvements and wanted some opinions.

Going to go w/ Alpine receiver w/ the mod that lets you still use the audio controls.

Need input on speakers. Also sub. Is it better to mount the sub in the middle well or two in each corner of the trunk?

All opinions are appreciated!

This thread is meant to help anyone who is getting ready to upgrade the sound system AND
to introduce myself to the site cuz this is my first thread. I will try to inclue relevand details
to help with ur audio upgrade decisions. Feel free to ask me questions.

So i just bought my first S2k about a week ago..
2006 Blk
17k miles
$21500 out the door.

Im a psycho when it comes to music.. So the S2k speakers were not doin it for me.
I did lots of research before upgrading, but it took me less then a week to finish
gathering all the parts and getting it installed. Overall cost of this upgrade was
close to $1500.

To start off, here are a few pics of the car when i first got it last Friday.

Now on to the Audio stuff.

Here is a list of the equipment i choose to use.

Headunit - Alpine IDA-x305S
Component speakers - Focal 165k2p
Amp - JL audio HD600/4
Subwoofer - JL Audio 10w3 (found a custom s2k subwoofer enclosure on craigslist for $60)
Modifry Wired DCI (to keep factory audio controls next to steering wheel)

Here is a pic of all the equipment

Here is a list of the equipment and WHY i chose it.

HEAD UNIT: Alpine IDA-x305S - Paid $260 from local shop-
Chose this for its beautiful ipod functionality. Im an ipod person. I dont use CD's or USB flash drives. So for me, this unit was the right one.

WHY I CHOSE IT:
Flips through my entire playlist easy.
Find the song ur looking for fast!
Has pandora intergration.
Lots of options to play with.
Fits in the S2k allowing the headunit door to still close.
BUTTT for those of you who care, it has No CD player... Only Ipod and USB.

Next

The JL AUDIO AMP - $350 Used from craigslist -
Used this because it is small and POWERFUL! Its a 4 channel, so 2 channels were used for the front speakers, and the other two channels were bridged for the sub.

Next

The JL AUDIO 10w3 Subwoofer - $160 New from local shop - This is a quality based sub and that what i wanted for this car. Its a 10 inch and provides excellent quality bass.

Next

Component speakers - Focal 165k2p - $400 Used from Craigslist-
After hearing these in a shop, i fell in love with them. And let me tell you, now that they are in the car, i couldn't be happier with the power and clarity.

Next

Modifry Wired DCI - $117 from Modifry's website. Not much to say about this thing, other then it works. The only complaints i have with this are 1) There is a slight lagg when switching tracks, And you have to use two buttons at the same time to change tracks. This is different for every head unit you use. But over all it works well with the x305s. I can do volume up/down... change songs.. change playlist.. fastforward/rewind all from the factory s2k controls.

Had my local audio shop do the installation

Here are pics of the end product.
