Turbo and Supercharger
Yeah...there the same... like Missionary and Doggy are the same... as in a priest and a puppy. what you think i mean sex? no i mean a priest and a puppy.

Again, more performance = less space in engine bay?
do you need that space? is that space more important than HP?

turbo sucks in air and compress them to make more power.

superchargers are pulleys,

two different things, not the same

supercharger looks nicer

um. ya ummm ok. i was just stating that they were close to the same size. since others had mentioned they werent. here is my other car does it look like im all that worried about space in the s2000 that engine is shoe horned in there. And mugen just a little info for ya about forced induction. They both suck air in they both take that air and cram it into the intake so they both do the exact same thing the difference is one spins because its attached to pulleys and the other is done with exhaust gasses

it takes in air to spin the pulley, it does compress but not alot,

i was refering to the engine compressing not the supercharger compression

Silly me, I thought it was the belt spinning the SC pulley. The belt that was being driven by the crank pulley. I didn't realize the air was spinning it. What was I thinking?

You were thinking about the hot exhaust gases leaving the engine after combustion are routed directly to the turbine wheel side of the turbocharger to make it rotate. Oops, did I say turbo? I'm sorry.

Well why did you say hot gasses? What is the benefit of the gasses being hot? Is this why its best to make a compact equal length manifold that wont disipate heat well for turbos? Lol Someone is learning something from this useless thread damnit lets get some facts going on up in here

Wow, ok. Turbocharger = uses SPENT exhaust gas to compress air and force it into your intake tract. I mean its probably pretty hot, but thats irrelevant. The exhaust has to spool up, hence the turbo lag.

Supercharger = is belt driven, does exactly the same thing, but since its belt driven its always "on" so to speak, there is no spooling.

The benefits of a turbo are that it can usually produce higher PSI, depending on the size of the turbo, which means more power. The benefits of the supercharger is its always on tap, since its belt driven. Both do exactly the same thing, compress the air coming into your engine therefore making your engine (a giant vacuum) work more efficiently.

I'm new to this car, so im not sure which is more efficient but man, whatever that black S2k had in the video that was posted, I want!

Supercharging vs Turbocharging

Hey all,

Does anyone have torque and hp gains on the SC vs TC quandry? I know Comptec states 340 hp at the flywheel in their adverts. Has anyone of you lads put your SC'd or TC'd S2K's on the dyno to really see what your gains are?

Also the only SC I have been able to locate is the Comptec or Vortech Snail type SC. Does noone make a traditional roots-type blower for our auto's

No traditional roots type blower available in a kit for our car just yet. A few people have tried to make one, but none have so far come to market. Jackson Racing are working on one at the moment.

Typically the roots type blower does not provide enough at the top of the rev range.
