super charger; from what i hear the turbo is harder on your engine, cuts miles off your life much faster than the SC

I would like to have the turbo charge; it is more fun, but as far as maintenant goes I am sticking the Supercharger.

I prefer turbos myself since the last motor I built was a turbo motor butttttttttttt on a nice car like the s2000 that you want to keep nice the supercharger seems like the best way to go

Both are nice. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

well the only reason i think i would get aturbo would be to get ab blow off valve and yes i know you can put one on a super charger too but my friend said theres more to do to a turbo car

Yep. No better reason to have a tubro than to have the 133t BOV sound. I hear the SRT4 community calling!

I think he was mocking the 16 year olds with their srt4's that blow off every chance they get cause theyre awesome and love the sound. I also like the bov howver I do not like it when someone blows off just from revving their car infact I cant wait to see one of them spin a bearing or something along those lines when revving the bejebus outa it at a light. Oh and if your car blows off from revving your turbo is to small bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If he didnt meen that then I do.

Everyone is correct and the differs is technical, or when you want that extra HP to be delivered onto the pavement. Turbo will take a tad longer then the supercharger ( it would be a biach during a mid corner excursion then the turbo kicked in ), but then the supercharger will max out faster then the turbo. Conceptually both applications are ideals for the s2k due to the higher RMP; more exhaust for the turbo and more rotation for the supercharger. But the draw back is the higher compression ratio of the engine itself will limit the amount of boost to be delivered into the combustion chamber ( i'm not going to get into the other potential mechanical issues right now ). To date 7 psi is ideal for the S2K. Supercharger kit will come with that set up and the turbo kit BO valve also set for that as well. Both can be modified further to increase boost, but turbo will have several more parameters advantage over the supercharger & much easier. Both installtions are equally painful and complicated since the S2K is not meant for neither. But if anything to brake the ties are the price and easthetic. A complete turbo kit is $1,500 cheaper then supercharger kit, and the supercharge kit will retain your upgrade headers Niether one will add several extra envy factors onto your S2K Are ya'll ready?

depending on the size of the turbo on the application, the RPMs of the engine entering the curve there WILL be boost. Like I said though it all depends on the size.

well i have both and i like them both. As you guys said, turbo is less complicated and you can unleash more power but it will not react untill needed air hit right compression ( unless is an srt SLOW... i mean srt4, whooops ) so far all the times that i have taken the S2K out for a spin i have been amused on the power i have felt with the centrifugal supercharger. i will not judge none of them, i dont have the right to but i will say that they both are great. By different threads i have heard that SC its been more efficient that turbos in S2Ks

Thumbs up

Turbocharger is far more eficient. you get much more torque and hp.
It also develop less heat, and that of to reasons, it only create boost when you need it, and it doesent beat the air. The down side is turbo lag, the larger the turbo the more lag. And turbo is more reliable than the supercharger, especially on high rpm engines cuz of the belt.
Put a small ball bearing turbo on your s2000 and you will fly, but the cost is higher. I am going for cams though, because, there is a lot to gain in that rpm range, i had a rally car in 93, that was a 2.0 with tb´s and the lot, but i put out 283 hp at 7750, and had a very flat torque querve with over 200 pounds starting fron 4600. iI bought it used and raced it for at least 20000 miles with regular maintenence. It was the legendary v20xe opel engine in a 79´ ascona.

In summary...

Supercharger kit - low initial cost, simple install, lack of high end upgrade path. CARB approval.

Turbo kit - generally higher cost (require ecu + dyno tuning etc), install generally takes longer (eg intercooler, exhaust dump pipe etc), often easier to upgrade. Unsure of any turbo kits with carb approval, but I think most fail due to standalone ECU?

If SC and I will, I think am going to buy the comptech kit since it has a nice CF airbox cover. And there is a SC s2k project on october issue of Honda Tuning by using the vortech kit. Check it out.

Are you sure ? It seem to me that the compressor of the SC is much larger then that of the turbo because SC running at a lesser RPM so larger size make up for the difference.

superchargers and turbos can be the same size or a turbo can be larger or a supercharger can be larger. The s2000 kits ive seen theyre both close to the same size. With a turbo you will need a different manifold then stock but thats the only thing that could make it more cluttered. a front mount is not needed with low boost. really a supercharged and turbo are the same thing

one is belt driven the other is driven by exhaust gasses I kind of assumed you guys knew that. And yes for the s2000 theyre very similar they use snails unlike the picture of the rsx you posted a picture of. also a supras engine bay is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy different then a s2000s

Ohkay.... i can understand wanting the outside to look nice, but sacraficing a performance mod for the sake of keeping your engine bay clean??... If its not a show car, then who cares if your turbos too bulky? at least you can say you have a turbo! Its like going into war and choosing your gun by how pretty it is, not how effective its going to be saving your A** and killing the other guy.

Besides... do engine bays really look pretty? no.
Do performance mods make your engine bay look beter? Yes

Examples:
Intake,
Headers
Intercooler
Lightweight Carbon Sheilding
Braided Steel Tubing covers

If you focus on performance, the engine bay looks better! if your that picky then get a turbo that looks nice..? Its not like theres alot of room to work in there, so whats a little less room, for alot more hp?

Although i can understand color schemes, and powder coating, and braided steal, etc. etc. It makes your stuff last longer, and still looks good. But please, if your going to focus on making your car look good more than making it perform, then dont worry about the engine bay.

Ahh... sorry to rant, Your car, not mine,
