Upgrade
So for Father's Day, I have decided to do some mods to my 2000 S2k...
What is the single best upgrade I can do to it with out breaking the bank. I.E. Turbo and Super Chargers are out. I have read on this forum that the intake and headers is not much of an upgrade in turms of power. Now for exaust, I hear both sides of the fence, some have said the stock exaust and intake system is already very good, others have said that the exaust is poor. Which is it? Why? What should I spend my money on, or should I just be happy to have an S and save my money for something else? Thanks! |

Exhaust. These motors are already tapped from factory. Unless you want to spend large dollars to coax a few more ponies an Exhaust for around $1000 is the way to go. Keep in mind you will still only pull maybe 3 hp at the wheels with a new exhaust system but you will feel faster and the car will sound a little more like it is suppose to.
Type in S2000 exhaust on YOUTUBE and there is a good clip comparng different systems and how they sound. |

3 HP, that is it?
What do you recommend? I would prefer a lower rumble sound... if I did it. I am just not sure $1000 dollars is worth 3 hp. Thanks, |

Gears. It gives the sensation of more torque, but actually doesn't add any power. You will be amazed how much quicker the car feels.

Get up early before everybody else, take it out to some familiar twisties n' wring the snot oud'a Stewie. Scare yourself a little. Then go back n' dooitt again n' again. When your breathin' returns to normal n' you're capable of restrainin' the crazed grin, go find some oud'a-the-way greasy-spoon n' grab breakfast. No, it won't add any shiny doo-dads r' allow you to throw open the hood when it comes to a bench-racin' show-n'-tell, but, without a doubt it'll be time well spent n' the cost n' installation time is pretty reasonable Happy Father's Day. I dont have gears but i just finished gettin exhaust, intake, lighter wheels i wish i would have just spent the money on gears. So i would have to go with GO on this one. Thats all my buddys got and his car is alot quicker than mine.Feels and drives a lot faster.But mine sounds and looks better

If you go FI, make sure you have enough for tuning and drivetrain probs down the line. That was my contemplation between CF Hardtop or go FI. You're looking a clutch job for sure and the diff soon after, only assuming this because you're driving an '00 and the remaining lifespan of these parts.
Minor gains, weight saving are huge with aftermarket I/H/E. Good luck! |
