Here soon I will be going boosted, and for now I am collecting information to make a decision to go either s/c or turbo.
The question for now is, what is the biggest (or smallest really) size pulley you can put on a s/c? Anyone have any first hand experience with upgrading their own pulley? What kind of power can higher boost pulleys accumulate? Thanks

I went to a 7 lb pulley on my CT system. No problems that were not self inflicted. I have heard of people going to 9 lbs w/o having to change the head gasket. I think once you get above that, you need to change the head gasket and fuel injectors. Heck, you may need to change out the stock fuel injectors with a 9 lb. for all I know. I tried changing them to 550's with my 7 lb. pulley and got 15 more WHP, but the driveability suffered. I am back to the stock 360 injectors.

The car would sputter when it was cold (within the first couple of miles) for a second or two and then be fine. I would also get a CEL about a rich fuel bank. I would reset the code after those first couple of miles and it wouldn't come back until the next day I tried to drive and the car wasn't completely warmed up yet. If I let it idle in the driveway until I had a full three bars, then the CEL wouldn't chow, but I still got the sputter.

I pushed a Vortech to 17 psi and over 500 rwhp. The superchargers do have limits as do smaller turbos.

is that after you you put it in and set it up for 13 psi or do u have to change a lot of stuff beside putting the sc. What I am saying could u buy a vortech sc or turbocharger and make 400 hp without buyin anything else.

It would require headwork, injectors and an EMS to see 400 rwhp. |

Go,
what are you using for fuel management. I have 550 with an AEM EMS and no problems. I hav heard of issues with 650's though |

It's the reason your CEL was coming on (excess fuel), and why your engine took forever to heat up (excess fuel was cooling the chambers). Turbo kit is the best bet if you don't mind doing your own work. If you don't, it's MUCH cheaper than an SC and has much more potential. |
