turbo

You be the guinea pig, let us know!!! I have been looking at these for a while, with the same questions. I would like to see some people with the same setup that haven't enountered spontaneous combustion in the engine bay before I decided to jump on it.....Seems like a great deal, maybe too good...if you catch my drift.

its been said 100 times before. Junk junk junk. Its all knock off brands. There is a kit on ebay that it looks like someone researched what parts would work well together and put a kit together. It sells very cheap and he uses all good parts.

I know I've said this before also. Don't buy anything dirtcheap off ebay if there is any technology involved. You don't get good stuff for free. If you want a quality turbo you will have to buy a recognized brand thats up to the standards.

Ebay can be good for dead simple stuff that can't have any hidden "bad quality" within the item.

For example, the piping and intercooler could work good.
Turbo, most likely not.

You get what you pay for, but all sellers sell for profit.

I wouldn't mind getting that monifold and building one from there. I'd be scared of that turbo with the whole 90 days of warranty.

Its not the warranty thats the problem. I would take a 90 day on a Greddy kit. All components of this kit are manufactured in China.

Think of how much lead poisoning is going to be in there.. lol

Guys, if it seems to good to be true, IT IS! You get what you pay for..

FYI - Most reputable companies that makes turbo kits have two different versions for AP1 & AP2. The fact that they say this works for 00 - 08 is kinda shady as well. It is a cheap rigged turbo kit.

Greddy - $5,100
Ebay - $999

Yeah, DONT BUY IT!!

greddy is an even worse turbo kit than the one on ebay. the turbo is smaller and the piggy back doesn't even come with a good tune. but of course if you get an ebay turbo you will not get an ecu or piggy back system to tune it with which is the major problem with both kits if you ask me. A kit should INCLUDE a good ecu or equlivent piggy back, good turbo, FMIC, and fuel system(ie 450 injectors or better depending on turbo size and fuel pump).

BTW one of my buddies got a greddy kit for his RX-8 and is make 168 hp at the wheels with it at a cost of 4500 not including the access port he bought to tune the ecu when he found out the piggy back that comes with the kit SUX!!!

i wouldnt waste your money man, if you have $999 then your 1/5 away from getting a good turbo kit!! Save your dough and wait it out a little and buy a nice and reliable kit!!

"You get what you pay for" is one of the most vital quotes you should consider when turbocharging our car.

i have seen many of these kits on my buddies integras and they all say the same thing... JUNK!!! the manifolds break at different weld points and the turbo craps out around 1000 miles only useful thing is the intercooler and piping thats about it..

just laying out my own opinion I feel that everything is gonna be cheap maybe the piping wont last 10-15 years like greddys but itlls last 5-10 years also with these cheap turbos usually its the type of kids the buy them for their honda and beat on it after installing it. equaling turbo failure. I think that if you know what your doing and dont plan on keeping the car forever buy the shitty kit install it and break it in. than find out what will assist it in making more power and have fun while at it. and yea i have bad english

The tune included with the Greddy kit is designed just to be able to drive the car somewhere so you can have it tuned. Infact, that's what the tune with ALL turbo kit's are made for. They're designed to get you somewhere so you can have it dyno tuned.

And I don't understand how your buddies Turbo RX-8 only made 168 hp at the wheels when my buddies stock RX-8 made 177hp

First off, the ebay turbos are garbage but not the whole kit. The manifolds work, I made 670whp on my IS300 and have known guys with 9sec supras running them. The wastegate can be tricky, they are known to stick but can be made to work. My brother used the manifold, wastegate, and intercooler on one of his supras and made 650whp with it. Too many people run their mouths about these parts. Just using common sense of course the more complicated parts are shit but what does it take to make a manifold or exhaust?
