Stock internals...How much can they take?
Hey guys, I was wondering how much psi the stock internals can take. As well as how much hp the tranny can take?

It's not a matter of psi that limits these engines, but power. Generally ~500 is the safe mark with a head gasket, some say 600. It all depends on the tune. There are many in the high 400's, even in the 500's with stock transmissions without problems.

Maybe a stock tranny but not a stock clutch. Stock S2000's are known for clutch fade with numbers that high.

I was gonna go with the inline pro kit so I would need to also get a headgasket and injectors to safely be able to have a 400whp weekend car

I/H/E, valve job, port&polish and other minor work will not net you 300whp. Obviously the clutch will need to be changed, my OEM clutch slipped at 300whp when I used to be supercharged. Aftermarket pistons are not compatible with our OEM sleeves anyway. We have fiber reinforced cylinder liners, aftermarket pistons will chew them up. In order to swap internals you must re sleeve the block. We do have forged internals from the factory, and with lower compression, they can take a beating.
