Looking good!. I'm wondering about attaching the battery ground to the sheet metal. Also I'd like to see a rubber grommet around the hot wire where it passes through the hole.

Based on my past experiences. Your results may differ.

Yep, the grommets are in place now. I haven't had any electronic problems yet, so it appears to be a good ground and the multimeter hasn't given me a reason not to use it. After all, the simpler the better.
