Dynoed Vortech SC - just done!

I just got my car back from the shop on Friday. I've taken a bunch of pics and will post them when I get a chance to load them up.

It's putting down 301hp @ 8800 rpms with a 12.1 AFR and 6.6 psi Boost.

I noticed yesterday though that I'm getting an oily residue around the breather for the bypass valve. Does anyone know what this could mean?

Other then that and the extra noise from the aftercooler waterpump and compressor itself it drives just like stock. Which I like.

Maybe its just me but it seems you should have a little more torque than that with 301 whp. Should be a little closer to 200, maybe it is just me.

In regards to the oil, it is most likely pressure building up in the top of the valve train. If you are using breathers you way want to go back to hoses. Hoses tend to use the natural intake pressure to pull the oil through. With out the pull from the intake it is just going to sit there. With a N/A set up I don't see an issue with breathers, but with FI I think the other route is better. Maybe some1 else can chime in.

The torque does seem just a tad low. If you get tuned, it'll help.

About the oil in the valve. Catch can/tank. Its a fact that its where AP1s will leak and burn oil up.

FYI........Horsepower is a calculation of torque.

(torque X rpm) divided by 5252 = horsepower.

Torque and horsepower are always the same number at 5252 RPMs.

Yup. According to my dyno sheet they are 139.0 and 139.1 at 5250 rpms.

Krank Vents will help with the oil problem. I have them and have never had a problem.

As for the horsepower and torque numbers, I am at about the same numbers with a 7 lb pulley at 2600 ft elevation.

Does anyone have a picture of a vortech valve with a catch can/tank instead of the k&n breather?

Yes, the Krank Vents work on any car. I don't have any specific pictures of the Vents in my car, just some basic engine shots.

I haven't had much seat time yet just don't have the time, but I will soon.

Like everyone has said on here it's marginal below 6000 rpms. Boost is only at 2psi at 5000 and builds to a maximum of 6.6 at 8800. Except for the fact the car is MUCH noisier (especially because I added a cat-back at the same time) it drives just like stock. The kit basically improves on what the car was already good at. Again, exactly what I expected.

Yea, its a little low on torque but its still good. Are you satisfy with it?? I am thinking of doing the Inline turbo kit. If Im correct I'd be looking at around 400whp with the gasket and exhaust.. 300whp seems like it be nice, but 400whp seems scary...lol

Yah it's pretty darn good now at the high rpm. I'm still wishing for more torque but I've got that in my daily driver. The turbo kit sounds good because of the increased torque but from what I've heard regarding reliability the supercharger seemed like the way to go. Good Luck with your decision.

I'm on vacation now but when I get back I'll post up some pics.

Nice pics! Did you put those gas struts on that hold the hood open? I saw those on another car and I want 'em.

Edit.....just saw your sig. Thanks.

It sure would be easy to get a slightly smaller pulley made and up the boost slightly. I would guess roughly 15 hp per pound of boost.

Remember this at Christmas and get a new pulley. ASP in Texas makes a custom order pulley of any size/color for around $95.
You have to call them, the Vortech pulleys are not in the catalog.
http://www.aspracing.com/index.html

Your supercharger has an upper limit of 53,000 rpm impeller speed and this should give boost in the 14 to 16 psi range or way beyond where you want to be. Boosting 7.5 or 8 psi should be safe with your high compression.
Plug in your data and see how fast you are currently spinning your pump.
Just remember you need more mods to add fuel as the boost goes up.

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...d%20Calculator

Love them Vortech Superchargers.

I did the supra tt pcv on the hose towards the back of the engine and that stopped the blow by under vtec.

I'm still getting some in vtec so thinking of doing one on the inlet side but not sure about cutting the vortech supplied line. I see you have a vortech as well. Do you have any pics?
