few turbo Q's

have a 2002 turbo'd s2k and had a few questions

1) bought the car used with the charger so dont realy know what the numbers are dealer said 319 at the wheels but then again he is a car salesman lol how much is it to get it tune and dyno'd plan to do it this weekend if times allows

2) are turbo timers always a good idea regardless of boost or how you run the car. are they a must?

any info would be great thanks guys

1. Depends on the turbo kit about how much power. Sounds about right for a straight bolt on turbo with a small tune. It all depends on the tuner you use and how good (reputation) he has. Around me, tuning is 150 dollars an hour.

2. I'd get a turbo timer. It'll circulate oil through the turbo after you take the key out and shut the car off on its own. You don't want hot oil just sitting in the turbo and burning up. It'll give your turbo a longer life span.

Your better off getting the timer unless you are patient and don't mind letting the car idle for a few minutes while you sit there. Also I would make it a point not to load the engine/boost when your about to reach your destination to keep the turbo's Rpm as low as possible before shut off.

Don't waste your money on a timer. If you're really beating on the car you just have to have to let it sit for 30 seconds. If you're beating on it on the street just take an easy when you get close to your destination. For example, if I'm boosting on the street heavily and then turn on my street, by the time I'm at my drive way it's been enough time to let it cool.
