AEM FIC NOOB review

Hey guys just figured id give you a noobs review on the aem fic. I just installed the unit with some 550cc injectors and a 10 psi pulley for my vortech. I have the boomslang harness so it was just plug and play. I still need to find a good easy to access home for the unit so we will see. I start the car and it runs great except pig rich because of the injectors. With a little bit of tuning I have the idle pretty darn good I had 440cc injectors and it idled perfectly right at 14.6-14.8 with the 550's it idles at about 14.3-15. As far as just cruising around town it drives like stock, in boost I need to do a bit more tuning. I am running anywhere from 11.3 to 13.0 for just half a second so I will def need to do some tuning there. Anyways so far I really like the aem fic and I think it would be great for someone looking to run a larger shot of nitrous or a lower boost turbo or sc setup.

The only cons I see so far is you cant add timing sorry na guys and I dont see a vtec controller. Also the data logger seems to be harder to use than I am used to. My old haltech was very easy to use I am sure this will be too once I learn the tricks.

On a side note does anyone have any pointers on what to retard my timing by? I am currently retarding my timing by .5 degrees per psi. I know that in general people say 1 degree for 1 psi is a very very conservative number but I also know that our cars can run 6 psi without and retarding so I was just curious as to what you fellars thought.

good write up, isu. not sure about the timing though... that's slightly past my realm of expertise.

Hey I forgot about this thread. Ok heres what ended up happening. I got idle and driving out of boost perfect. It drove like a completely stock car even with the 550cc injectors. I had trouble tuning it for boost. One day in boost it would be rich the next lean the next all over the place. It seemed like the ecu was trying to learn and totally screwing around with my settings. All in all its a really nice unit but you have to really know what youre doing which I dont or go to a tuner that really knows his stuff and there arent many around here that do. I still think it would work great on a boosted setup or even better on a nitrous setup just needs more patience and tuning then I gave it. All in all I removed it and bought a aem ems.
